HART OF PLYMOUTH with thanks to Jo Loosemore at BBC Radio Devon. A wonderful short introduction to what is a fascinating story of a long forgotten Plymouth born Jewish artist and his incredible painting “Lady Jane Grey at the place of her execution”. This is the story of a man who stayed true to his beliefs and of his endeavours that were rewarded by overcoming the prejudices of others.
Catch my performances at The Box Plymouth 30th Sept & 1st Oct.

Artist Solomon Hart was the first Jewish member of the Royal Academy. Hear his story.

An interesting article from Devon Live today about the village of Dean Prior on the A38 between Buckfastleigh and Ashburton. A few years ago we started writing and recording stories about the A38 between Plymouth & Exeter for the “From Devon With Love Festival”. Here it is with Robert Herrick the vicar of Dean Prior making an appearance.

Follow this link for the recording:

Now, the busy A38 runs divides the church of St George the Martyr and much of the village of Dean Prior

CEMETERY AUDIO TRAILS: Plymouth History Month returns in May this year. Ripple Theatre Co will once again be curating it’s very successful Cemetery Audio Trail in the Hidden Old Jewish Cemetery on Plymouth Hoe. Also, we will be presenting a brand new trail at Gifford Place Jewish Cemetery, adjacent to Ford Park Cemetery in Plymouth. We’ve started work on it today and it will definitely be one worth visiting.
Oh, and this is Dexter, the Synagogue Cat, a Maine C**n. Certainly made his presence known today whilst we attempted some recordings. Very much like his predecessor Barney. You can hear Barney’s story by following this link: https://soundcloud.com/ripple-theatre/cat-track-16

DAMNATION ALLEY: The Herald newspaper is running an article about Damnation Alley this weekend. DA was situated around Castle Street on The Barbican, Plymouth in the 19th Century and is where The Barbican Theatre (formally the Seaman’s Bethel) is now located. Ripple Theatre Co were approached to contribute. Check out the article, watch our film, go and experience our audio trail. https://t.co/zfJ4B7rqOM
