I had the most wonderful Mother’s Day… even though I’ve been sneezing and sniffling my way through a head cold 🤧😬💕

I woke up to a very yummy (and one of my favourites!) Fearne Cotton sweet potato hash breakfast in bed, cuddles on the sofa with Daisy, a roast dinner in front of the fire, chocolate cake and custard for dessert, a long hot bath to relax… and now finishing the last episode of Bridgerton. 🥰

It really has been a day of slowing down, and I hope all the mums out there managed to do the same. To put their feet up for a little while, because we really do spin so many plates day to day. 🫶🏼

Today was a big reminder to do that more often.
Leave the dishes. Drop the cleaning. Cuddle up in front of a film.
(Although, admittedly… I did pick up the polish and clean my living room windows, dusted my shelves and fed all my living room plants 😂 🪴)

This past year with Daisy has gone by in an absolute flash, but it has been filled with so much happiness, learning and love. I’m soooo looking forward to all the years ahead with her. 🥹

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums out there 💛

A little late to the party, but I’m here and showing up 😜

Yesterday was a big day for us, Daisy turned one, and it was also International Women’s Day, the day she came into the world last year. 🥹

We had the most wonderful (and very busy!) day celebrating our little girl, surrounded by franks and my parents, cake, balloons and lots of love. 💖

I honestly can’t believe a whole year has passed since she was born. Becoming Daisy’s mumma has changed so much for me, not just personally, but in how I think about work, balance and what really matters.

This year I’ve been learning how to give Daisy the time she deserves, while also showing up for the business I love and the customers who support us. It’s not always perfectly balanced, but I’m learning to be present for both. 🧘🏼‍♀️

On a day that celebrates women everywhere, I feel especially grateful to be raising a little girl of my own and I hope she grows up knowing she can be anything she wants to be. ✨

To all the amazing women out there building businesses, raising families, chasing their dreams, or simply just showing up every day and doing their best…I see you. You’re incredible. 🫶🏼

For those of you who are new here, or don’t know our story… hey 👋🏼 I’m Pennie and this is my partner Frank and we’re the founders of Tache.

Our story began in 2013, not with a business plan, but with a very thoughtful handmade birthday card.

Frank and I met at a Butlins weekend, music festival, I navigated unpaid internships, 9–5 jobs, and life in a flat in sunny Bournemouth which we called the Toblerhome. (we were in the apex of a house and it reminded us of the chocolate bar Toblerone) 😂 I’d always made cards for friends and family, but one year Frank made me a handmade birthday card filled with super cute handmade details and special little surprises and it completely blew me away.

It made us realise how powerful a card can be. How something created with love and intention can be the gift in itself. And that was the spark we needed…

Tache is named after our beautiful British Shorthair cat (thanks to her fabulous moustachioed markings), and what started at our kitchen table, gifted to us by Frank’s mum when we moved in together has grown into an award-winning handmade greeting card and gift brand that we’re so incredibly proud of.

Since those early days, life has grown a little fuller too. We’re now parents, slightly sleep-deprived… and outnumbered by our 5 very loving cavapoos and Tache (the cat) 🐶 🐾

There have been many challenges along the way including job losses, big decisions, growing a team and plenty of moments where we’ve had to be brave and take risks. But, our mission has stayed the same…to create thoughtful, beautiful handmade cards designed to make people smile and to help spread love between one another.

Now, as a new mum and business owner, I see even more clearly how important connection really is. Every order, every message, every phone call or shop that stocks our cards, means so much to us.

So that’s us…building something meaningful together, one handmade card at a time. 💌

It feels a little scary finally contributing to the March Meet the Maker movement , but here we go…

💕 Thank you so much to everyone who popped by our stand at Spring Fair, the last few days have been so fab, looking back at all the conversations… honestly, what a show! 🥂✨

It was so lovely catching up with familiar faces and meeting so many new ones too. The support, chats and smiles our designs brought to your faces (and ours!) truly mean so much. 💌 Being back on stand after my maternity leave felt amazing, doing business, reconnecting and building on relationships again, it reminded me why we love what we do and why tradeshows are still so important to our business.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there’s clearly a whole lot of love in the air. Our “Love Is In The Air” collection is already flying off to new shelves and we couldn’t be more grateful and excited for all our stockists. 💕🎈

And now that it’s Friday 🫶🏼 I’m very much looking forward to switching off, slowing down and spending some precious time with my little family this weekend. 💕

✨Every year, one of my favourite parts of Spring Fair is designing our stand ✨

It’s not always about a full rebuild or anything grand. Sometimes it’s the little things, the small corners, tiny details, the pockets of creativity that bring me the most happiness. I’m always tweaking, improving and reimagining, trying to make our stand feel just a little bit better every year. (and a little more simple to put up 🙃)

Looking back at these photos from the past four years makes me so proud. 🥹 Proud of our little setup, proud of the team that joins us on stand, and proud of what we manage to create together. 

Last year was a little bit different. I was heavily pregnant, watching from my sofa while the team very kindly sent me photos and videos of the stand. I loved seeing it, but I definitely missed being there.

So this year feels extra special. I can’t wait to be on the stand again, to see our new collections come to life, and to watch customers pick up the cards, admire the handmade work, and connect with all the love that goes into every single design.
