HERE'S AN OFFER OF FREE READS:
When cultists attempt to kidnap Jonathan Goldspear, he is forced to leave his comfortable Victorian life behind and join an expedition to the last untamed land in the world. There, he will encounter eldritch horrors and betrayals, deep and bitter, yet also unexpected love and adventure as he fights both his destiny and the ones who would twist him to their own dark ends. Along with original characters, the story weaves in people from the period (like the explorers Stephens and Catherwood and Jean Lafitte) along with others more literary (Doctor Jekyll), recasting them into original characters of their own.

The main character is a young black man, and being speculative fiction, he lives in a world where humans don't discriminate against each other over race, because there are several races other than human that they can vent their hatred towards (cultures as well. In the third book, there is a Black detective who is looked down on, not because he's black, but because he's Irish). The main character's grandfather and father are industrialists, now upper-class British, but since the MC is the last of the line of kings, is grandfather makes sure the MC remains close to the family's Nubian roots.

The books in this series are the modern version of 'Penny Dreadfuls', priced at $2.99 (but if you go to the Smashwords website, all my books are on sale for free until January 1).
