The screen industries in South Central England are on the brink of a major shift — and if you’ve ever worked behind a camera, edited late into the night, built a set, booked a location, or dreamed of growing your creative business here — this concerns you.

We're not naming names yet... but the foundations of a regional screen infrastructure are being laid. Things are moving — and fast.

This isn’t just about film. It’s about HETV, games, XR, virtual production, immersive storytelling, and the thousands of creatives who live and work in our region.

🚂 You’ve got two options:
✅ Get involved. Help shape the future.
❌ Or watch it leave the station without you.
📍 Have your say in the emerging regional screen industries strategy at the Screen Industries Cluster Meeting – Friday 26 Sept, Fareham College.

Our Story

Ever wanted to make a film and get it screened at glittering gala and award ceremony with the brightest and best in filmmaking? Fancy a night at the Oscars but never thought you could afford it? Well now its all possible as the doors opens to this years fabulous TWELFTH edition of the DVMISSION 48 Hour Film Challenge.

Yes, surprising as it seems DVMISSION has been running for twelve years now and is officially the longest running 48-hour film challenge in the UK if not in Europe. It is certainly the best-established 48-hour film challenge on the South Coast and has spawned any number of other challenges. It is the MOTHER of them all! Well the local ones anyway.

If you have never taken part and are not sure what DVMISSION is let me explain. It is a film festival with a difference in that all the films screened at the gala premier and awards ceremony were made in the preceding 48 hours. What happens is that at 5pm on the Friday night before the premier teams from across the country are given a film ‘title, genre and line of dialogue’. What we call the ‘obstructions’. The teams then have just 48 hours to return on Sunday at 4pm, with a finished two-minute film. Later the following Saturday night all the teams arrive in their best suits & frocks for the exciting culmination to the challenge… the awarding of the coveted ‘Pompey Oscars’! “It’s the S*x Pistols meets the Oscars!” Audience feedback (2008) “Lights, Camera's and Rock n Roll” Roy Hanney MISSION Producer (2007) “It’s better than Christmas!” Audience feedback (2011) Find out more about DVMISSION & watch the films from previous challenges at www.dvmission.co.uk
