Portsmouth Business Exchange (PBE) meetings provide the perfect balance between informal networking and structured business exchange, so the meetings are both fun and productive. The Portsmouth Business Exchange was founded by a group of local business owners, who wanted to develop professional working relationships with people they could rely on to enhance the growth of both their own businesses

and that of others. While your competitors are still in bed, you are up, exchanging business and continuing to grow your company. At the Portsmouth Business Exchange you will meet lots of friendly and dynamic business people who are passionate about helping each other grow their companies through quality contacts and recommendations. PBE is designed to be a structured way to meet new people and develop relationships which can benefit your business. As members get to know you, your business and the services you offer, members can begin to refer and recommend your business to their friends, family, work colleagues and other contacts. As a member, you will then also be able to exchange and recommend the services of other members, helping their businesses to grow as well. It is this mutually beneficial business networking relationship, which ensures the continued success of our group.

It’s that time of year; changing clocks, half-term and Halloween. Are you a hunker down, snuggle up with blankets and a roaring fire type, or the longing for bright, spring days sort of person? I’m firmly in the latter camp. But I have some great 10 mile hikes coming up over the next few months which should help to stave off the winter doldrums. And there is always a warm welcome at PBE to keep everyone smiling.

Our next meeting is an open floor discussion where people can talk about their business, their successes and their challenges. We always love to hear about new projects and especially about new businesses setting up, so do come along and please spread the word to others who might find our regular meet up helpful. We love welcoming new faces. It’s probably getting near the time where ideas for speakers for 2026 will be well received too.

The meeting is on Wednesday 29th October at Spark Community Space. Arrive from 9am for a prompt 9.15 start.

On the 12th November we are welcoming John from Solent Original Walks. SOW is a free to use service offering original and bespoke walks around Portsmouth. More information will follow in next week’s email.

And don’t forget, by attending you are helping to support Spark and all the fantastic work that the team there carries out.

Important Update!!!!

CHANGE OF DATE FOR NEXT WEEK'S MEETING

Next week only, our usual schedule has changed due to a conflict with another networking event. We'll be meeting on Thursday, 15th May, from 9:00am to 10:30am at Spark Community Space.

There’s no speaker lined up for this session, so we’ll be hosting an open discussion. It’s a great chance for relaxed conversation, informal networking, and a warm drink in good company.

We hope to see you there!

This coming Wednesday 2nd April is an in-person meeting at Spark Community Space, arrive from 9am for a 9.15am start. This week’s speaker is someone well known to regular PBErs, Bill Moulsdale.

Bill will be giving us an inspirational story of overcoming adversity, problems and danger on an epic adventure by sea and land.

Setting sail from Ramsgate in 1992 in a 28ft boat to travel to Rhodes in the very south of Greece, passing through France, Italy and the Greek Islands, through storms, blistering heat and scenery both beautiful and ugly. And all before satellite navigation was a thing.

This is going to be an epic meeting! Please join us to listen to Bill tell us all about his adventures and for some supportive networking.

We look forward to seeing you there.

The online meeting is always informal and friendly, so please feel free to join in, even if it is just to show your face and say hello. If you can bring some helpful information, tips or advice, please do so or if you have a particular challenge at the moment, why not see if other PBE attendees can help you out?

There is a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in the group so the more who attend, the more people are likely to gain from coming along. So why not join us?

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 19th February at SPARK Community Space, arrive after 9am for a 9.15am start.

This week our speaker is Jeanette Jones from Anygreenwilldo.

Jeanette has plenty of advice on how to green your business, which should increase your customers. Jeanette says of herself:

‘I’m a Grandma on a mission! My beautiful granddaughter Miya came along a bit earlier than I was expecting, making me a Grandma at 45! Her arrival got me thinking about the state of things in the world. It’s the topic on everyone’s lips but no one seems to know what to do to prevent the deterioration of our environment. It seems like an overwhelming task to ‘save the world’! You don’t have to single-handedly save the world, just make a few ripples. I hope that by letting you know about available products, it will give you the power to choose, and by choosing to make little changes in your daily buying habits, then you can have that incredible feeling of making a difference too!’

So please come along and listen to Jeanette’s valuable advice. There will also be the usual networking opportunities, a chance to chat with like minds and support Spark Community Space.
