Police are now protecting RNLI staff, volunteers and buildings amid protests and threats linked to the row over Channel small-boat rescues.

The charity says it will continue rescuing people in distress at sea — regardless of who they are or where they come from.

🚨 🇬🇧 **BURNHAM’S DEFENCE DILEMMA**

Andy Burnham has refused to commit to spending **3% of GDP on defence by 2030** — while rejecting Conservative demands to cut welfare to pay for the armed forces.

Facing Kemi Badenoch at PMQs, Burnham said:

🚨 **BURNHAM’S PENSION SHOWDOWN**

Britain’s pension triple lock has become one of the biggest political battles heading towards Andy Burnham’s first Budget.

Business leaders are now calling for the system to be **scrapped or replaced with inflation-linked increases**, arguing that the change could save the Treasury around **£3.3 BILLION over two years**.

The triple lock currently guarantees that the state pension rises each year by whichever is highest: **inflation, average earnings growth or 2.5%.**

But there is a huge political problem for Labour.

🚨 **UK–ISRAEL DIPLOMATIC ROW ERUPTS**

Britain has taken one of its toughest positions yet on Israel, announcing sweeping measures targeting trade and services linked to Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband says the UK now regards Israel’s occupation of the West Bank as unlawful and has accused settler extremists of carrying out “ethnic cleansing” against Palestinians.
