So..from Medway and Garage to Indie to Rockabilly! We're covering all the major food groups of music here...and there'll be more to come so keep your eyes peeled...

Off we went to Birmingham for the second Hard Headed Women all-dayer put on by to celebrate International Women's Day.

What a cracker of a day this was! It all began with the delectable .moonlight.sirens . This band just gets better and better. With a selection of covers that stray a little off the beaten track, these wonderfully quirky numbers are upbeat and a lot of fun. Hopefully they'll be in the studio soon!
The Latest Flames from Glasgow gave us pitch perfect rock and roll with a selection of originals and covers, some familiar and some not. Expect to see this band on more festival lineups in the future.
Joanna and the Dropouts. What can I say? I've been looking forward to seeing this band for ages and I wasn't disappointed. Sleazy rock and roll which is the best kind of rock and roll.
Our hosts for the evening The Bitter Lemons took to the stage with boundless energy. With a ton of dates that have taken them to New York and back, and a support slot to Hillbilly Moon Explosion on their upcoming tour, this band is going places.
Sharna-Mae and the Mayhems were a delight and after being away for a couple of years they're back with avengence. With the Wanda inspired vocals and upbeat rockabilly this was a fab set that showcased original material. Definitely one to look out for now they're back on the circuit.
And finally, with one of the Wild Women, Dani West brought her alt country rock and roll to the stage. Backed by Grand Union this was an excellent end to the evening. Her blend of country inspired numbers are taking her all the way to Viva Las Vegas next month, so what a treat to see her here in Birmingham.

Thanks to Hayley and Richie for another excellent day of Hard Headed Women. Will they be back next year? Make sure you look out for to find out.

Continuing our series of gigs what we've been to and haven't bothered posting about...until now

From Medway to Indie...

At Ramsgate Music Hall we were treated to a glorious night of indie pop from Would-Be-Goods and Heavenly. This really was a treat as past and present bands such as Talulah Gosh, Razorcuts, The Monochrome Set and...oh! did someone say Thee Headcoatees ...were represented up on stage.

The Would Be Goods showcased their new album (released in February this year) with tracks that drew on themes from cinema, ageing and Greek mythology. But with a back catalogue that spans about 20 something years there's a lot to pick from. Enjoyable, dreamy and fun.

Heavenly were also showcasing their new album (released in February too), the first in 30 years, although I suspect they've not been idle in that time. Originally on Sarah Records they were around at the height of indie and Brit pop so if you wanted jangly indie pop then that's what you were going to get. Similarly songs spanned the ages and they delved into grittier themes about abusive relationships and provided uptodate counterpoints to tracks they recorded back in the 90s. Again lots of fun with the crowd throwing their all behind the bands.

And also really terrible pictures of really good bands, but the 6'7" man standing in front of Amelia (Heavenly) blocked half the stage.

It's a truth universally acknowledged that we're not always very prompt on social media and so, we find ourselves a little behind with posts.

So it goes, so it goes.

However, it certainly has been the best of times kicking off with the three day Prisoners event in Herne Bay. The opening night of this extravaganza saw take to the stage with a cracker of a set. Recent tour dates have taken in half the known world and it certainly must have been a treat - for them no doubt as well as us - to be on terra firma and in the same spot for three nights on the spin!

Continuing the Medway mayhem The Len Price 3 brought their amped up in yer face riff heavy guitar to the stage. You can take the boys out of Medway and sure enough they're heading off to the US for a few dates later this month.

And then the reason that everyone had travelled far and wide for - the Prisoners were welcomed to the stage in fine style! Performing a selection of songs from 1983 album Thewisemiserdemelza and other favourites they wowed the audience. There was a lot of love in the room and if, by some slim chance, the band might have forgotten the words then the crowd was certainly in fine voice! If there was ever a thought that the band were saving themselves for the next two nights, then think again. This was a great performance.

We invited Richard Smith, friend to Fever 103, to choose an hour's worth of some of his favourite tracks that reflected both male and female artists. The brief was simple...or so we thought...a few questions and several messages later he came up with the goods. Is it true you can tell a lot from someone's carefully curated playlist? Well, we're not going to give any sneakpeaks here, but what we will say is that Richard is a bit of an enigma.

Many of you will know Richard from ROCKABILLY PSYCHOSIS & THE GARAGE DISEASE . A page dedicated to all things psychobilly. In addition Richard is known to travel far and wide to pursue his love of live music and this is definitely reflected in what he's chosen. Expect to see artists and songs from the past 70 years and of course there's some psychobilly in there, but there's also so much more.

To find out what gets Richard tapping his feet follow the links in the bio or here https://paypal.me/Fever103ukmag?country.x=GB&locale.x=en_GB

Thanks see you at !

🐴 We have another treat in store for you today and another favourite. Seiko Nemoto is the musician and singer/songwriter in .

I first saw I-Nichi at Broadbeat 2025 and it was memorable for all the right reasons - from Seiko's stage presence to the music and the joy that was projected from the band. I then caught up with Seiko a few weeks later to hear her story - from Tokyo to Taunton - and what a journey it's been. Seiko told me about her early introduction to music in Japan and how she was inspired to travel to California to study before ending up in London for a time. At the heart of the story has been music and through being in the right place at the right time Seiko witnessed the post punk new wave days first hand in America and Britain.

It's only in the last ten years or so that Seiko learned to play bass and get up on stage. Since then she's played at the 100 Club, recorded several records and now fronts the band I-Nichi. It was a real joy chatting to Seiko and hearing about her influences that pivot around the art and UK indie scenes of the 1980s. There were a few surprises along the way, not least the explanation about how her stage persona came about. So if you want to find out more then get yourself a copy of Fever103. You won't be disappointed!

🐴 With UK dates booked in for this summer I-Nichi are bringing their post punk sounds to a stage near you. And most importantly of all, don't forget to look out for the horse.

The sun is shining, the rain has stopped so what do we have for you on this almost spring like day? Well, we've only got an interview with Debbie Greensmith, otherwise known as Bongo Debbie, in the latest issue of Fever 103, and what a corker it is!

I met up with Debbie before the Nuns gig at the Lexington in London at the end of last year, which was no mean feat I can tell you. If you know a drummer then you'll know that they're in at least eight bands at any one time and Debbie is no exception!

We talked about Debbie's career beginning with the X-Men, her involvement with influential group, Thee Headcoatees, their surprise new album release and how it came about, as well as what's in store for the future.

With a brand new album from the Would-Be-Goods, an upcoming tour beginning in March and dates with Bal Stingray and his Goo-Goo Mucks, be sure to catch Debbie on the road somewhere between the south coast and Scotland over the next few months.

🔦We can't help but notice that it's Valentine's Day. We're not one for grand romantic gestures over at Fever Sanitorium, but we're prepared to make exceptions (and this is about as romantic as it gets), so let's shine a spotlight on one of our regular features.

💽Over the past year we've met and interviewed incredibly talented women and this issue is no exception. Some of you will know and recognise Cristina Vargas, a DJ often seen at festivals and gigs around Europe and the UK. We're very excited to welcome Cristina to the pages of Fever 103 and she tells us about who inspires her, how far she's prepared to travel to a good gig and what tunes get her dancing.

💞After her fab sets at Wild Weekend last year we're looking forward to seeing her at festivals later in the year. Big thanks to Cristina for taking the time to answer our questions, we ♥ you!

This is turning into one of our favourite features, so why don't you share the love by getting your new issue of Fever 103 and giving it to your valentine....after you've read it first of course.

You can get your copy for just £5 plus £2.20 postage and by following the link here https://www.paypal.me/Fever103ukmag?locale.x=en_GB

I'm not one for usually believing in signs, but when I was listening to on BBC Radio 6 Music the other week I felt that he was reaching out to me personally and sending a message. First up he played a track by Thee Headcoatees, which was swiftly followed by and then, to top it all, he played Cool for Cats by Squeeze. But how are these all connected and what was the message? Well, the message was something along the lines of pull your finger out, get your act together and sort the latest issue of Fever103. And the connection with those three bands? You'll just have to wait til next week to find out....

I’ve been going to see for about 25 years now and not one gig has fallen short of less than immense. Once more Howlin’ Pelle and his two million adoring fans all worked equally hard to put on a electrically charged performance. Pelle made being great look easy and his fans revelled in that greatness - thank goodness we were there to witness it
