As a nipper, I used a 'swear' word that I shouldn't have done. I'd heard people say it but I had no idea what it meant and I just said it because I thought it was fun.
My Dad was not best pleased and told me off. He asked me what it meant. I confessed, "Erm, I don't know..."
He told me not to use words I don't understand, as I would embarrass myself and possibly offend others. It's stuck with me throughout my life and so I have always tried to only use words I understand, both socially and professionally. I'm sure I'm not unique. I mean, you would want to use language you understand when broadcasting, wouldn't you?
Anyway, that reminds me of a recent sketch I saw. It truly is 'pomagne stuff'... 🤣🍾
