SKA & REGGAE FT. NANNY TRIM 23/02 - now live for your listening pleasure

We celebrated 46 years of St. Lucia independence on Sunday’s show, which included a special segment involving a conversation with my dear Nan.
We spoke about her time in St Lucia, her meeting my Grandad (in secret, the little rebel!), coming over to the UK in 1959 and settling here.

I think my favourite part was her talking about putting her washing out on the line during a snow blizzard, thinking the snow would make her clothes white 🥹❤️ - she’s too cute! As 2nd generation St Lucian, it’s important to capture these moments. Thank you, Nan and Grandad for everything you’ve done ❤️🇱🇨

We’re very saddened to hear about the passing of singer, Roberta Flack.

The R&B singer Roberta Flack, best known for the hits “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”and “Killing Me Softly With His Song”, has died at the age of 88.

“We are heartbroken that the glorious Roberta Flack passed away this morning, February 24, 2025,” said a statement from her representatives.
“She died peacefully surrounded by her family. Roberta broke boundaries and records. She was also a proud educator.”

Flack had previously announced in 2022 that she had motor neurone disease, and could no longer sing.

Sending love and prayers to all her family and friends at this time.

St. Lucia achieved full independence on February 22, 1979. To celebrate this, I am going to do a segment on Sunday’s show involving a recent conversation with my dear nan (technology permitting 🤞🏽), which involves her time growing up in St Lucia, meeting my Grandad, and settling in the UK.
