Let’s start with a radical idea: If you’re really dehydrated, water might not be your best friend. 🧐

Recent research suggests milk—not water—could be more effective at rehydrating us. Yes, the humble glass of milk surprisingly outperforms both H₂O and the industry‑favourite sports drinks.

Why are we so fixated on water + electrolytes? Because it makes a tidy narrative for functional beverages. But evolutionarily speaking, many traditional diets didn’t rely solely on water—they used dairy, soups, fruit slices, broths, even glucose‑electrolyte combos to rehydrate effectively .

Here’s the marketer’s lesson: consumers crave stories, convenience, familiarity. So when you design a hydration product, why not think beyond the tap? Imagine a chilled dairy‑based rehydration drink, or a broth‑infused electrolyte tonic that plays to both taste and heritage.

In short: get creative. Rehydration isn’t just a science, it’s an opportunity to rethink the narrative—because hydration is as much emotional as it is chemical.

💡 Milk > water. That's not marketing spin, that's academic spin. Maybe the next big hydration breakthrough is already in our fridge.

Good searching takes place in three stages: planning, searching, and follow up.

📝 Planning: Line up tools to optimize organization and think about where you can and should search. You begin to define your search question and translate it into a search strategy.

🔍 Searching: Try out your search strategy in different databases and refine, refine, refine! You will collect records along the way, but you don't need to get the full text of these articles yet.

📖 Follow up: screen the records, first cursorily, then carefully.

This helps ensure that you are catching all of the research most relevant to your question. Full guidance on each stage can be found in the Best Practice Guide for Literature Searching. Link below:
