**Babato Community Urges Development**

As part of Kintampoman TV’s Community Entry Program, we visited the Babato Dagomba-Mampurisi Electoral Area, located along the Kintampo–Tamale road.

During our discussions with the Assemblyman and community members, two main needs emerged: i.e ''CAR PARK and A SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL''

* **Car Park for Tankers and Large Vehicles** – The community urgently requires a designated car park to improve safety, create jobs, and generate revenue.

* **Senior High School for Babato** – Community members are requesting a Secondary/SHS to ease the educational burden on parents and provide accessible learning opportunities for youth.

Babato's size and location highlight the need for improved infrastructure and educational facilities. We urge the Municipal Assembly, traditional leaders, and stakeholders to support these initiatives for Babato’s development.

**Traffic Update in Kintampo Municipal**

We thank the Municipal Chief Executive, Police Commander, and YEA Director for managing traffic at the Kintampo Wednesday Market during the wait for new traffic lights.

Recently, we pointed out the challenges traders and pedestrians face when crossing the busy road, especially in the evenings. We requested assistance from the Municipal Assembly and Police Command, and we’re pleased to report that YEA staff were deployed to direct traffic yesterday, ensuring safety for vendors and commuters.

We appreciate their quick action and look forward to the restoration of the traffic lights.

**Community Entry at Sawaba: A Call to Action on Sanitation, Drainage, and Safe Water**

Today, during our Community Entry program, we visited the Sawaba Electoral Area to engage with the Honourable Assemblyman and members of the community.

Our discussions revealed several pressing challenges that require immediate attention:

1️⃣ **Sanitation:** Sawaba currently lacks a designated dumping site, forcing residents to use the Olonka gutter as a dumping point. This situation poses serious health and environmental risks.

2️⃣ **Drainage:** The absence of proper drainage systems and poor area layout has resulted in erosion, which is gradually undermining buildings and threatening residents’ livelihoods.

3️⃣ **Access to Safe Water:** Research shows that households located near the gutters—particularly around the sawmill area—lack access to clean drinking water. Their water sources are often contaminated, which poses long-term health risks.

This is a call to action for stakeholders, philanthropists, development partners, and anyone willing to support the community, especially those involved in mechanised water systems, to assist the people of Sawaba.

Together, we can provide sanitation solutions, establish proper drainage systems, and ensure access to safe drinking water, ultimately improving the living conditions in this community.

Let us unite to make Sawaba a healthier and safer place for all!

*Green Wealth for Kintampo South Farmers*

The Department of Food and Agriculture – Kintampo South, in partnership with the Kintampo South District Assembly, has begun a massive distribution of tree crops to farmers as part of efforts to promote agriculture, improve livelihoods, and fight climate change.

A total of 20,000 coconut seedlings are being supplied, with 10,000 already set for distribution. In addition, under the Carbon Credit Project, farmers will also receive:

12,000 mango seedlings

15,000 cashew seedlings

40,000 moringa seedlings

Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Kintampo South, Hon. Felicia Adjei, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Wilfred Zuuri, Mr Osei Solomon a communication team member expressed gratitude to the Carbon Credit Project for selecting Kintampo South for this life-changing initiative. He also commended the MP and the MCE for their tireless efforts in making this possible.

The DCE advised farmers to take good care of the seedlings, stressing that the trees will not only generate income for families but also benefit the District Assembly and Ghana as a whole. Beyond economic empowerment, this project serves as a bold step in the fight against climate change.
Kintampo South is rising – one tree at a time!

In his remarks, the Director encouraged the young assistants to take their work seriously and serve with dedication and discipline.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) also cautioned the new recruits to be punctual at work, stressing that commitment and time management are key qualities needed to succeed in the service.

The Hon. Member of Parliament for Kintampo North Constituency, Hon. Joseph Kwame Kumah (Jakala), assured the assistants of brighter opportunities ahead, promising that in the next intake of the Police and Fire Service recruitment, they would be given first priority.

*Kintampo Wednesday Market Hustle: A Call for Safety & Support*

Every Wednesday, Kintampo comes alive with market activities as traders and buyers troop in from all corners of the Municipality and beyond. But while the market brings livelihood and vibrancy, it also comes with a serious challenge — crossing the busy road has become a nightmare for market women, especially in the evenings.

With vehicles speeding past and no traffic lights yet in operation, market women, children, and the aged are left vulnerable in their bid to cross. This situation calls for urgent attention to prevent avoidable accidents.

Therefore, we are appealing to the Kintampo Municipal Assembly to assist City Guards and collaborate with the MTTD of the Ghana Police Service to control traffic during these peak market hours. This small but critical step will go a long way in ensuring the safety of our hardworking women and community members.

Let’s prioritise safety. Let’s protect lives.
