Being a good birth partner doesn’t just happen by accident: understanding the process means you can support her properly.

As a doula, supporting birth is what I do best; I know what it takes to help someone to birth the best way possible, and that starts with the preparation.

Whether we’re talking about the process of birth, pain management, coping strategies or baby life, the more you can relate to each other, the better a birth team you will make.

The talks you have.
The giggles you share.
The silly questions you ask.

All of this is the groundwork that builds your birth partner skills: it helps her to trust you implicitly, and helps you meet her needs when she needs you most.

This is why birth partners - whether they be the dad-to-be, a mum or a neighbour - are more than just an additional guest at my group antenatal sessions. You’re a core part of the experience - you’re vital!

My next group antenatal course starts on January 11th, only has 3 spaces left & is perfect for Feb, March & April due dates.

Chatting all things birth & baby with your non-pregnant friends can feel awkward. But other expectant parents? Well they’re here for it!

The stories, the questions, the what-if wonders: chances are they’re thinking it, feeling it & living it too. When you start talking, they’ll start talking and by the end of it everyone will feel far less alone.

… and if the last two and a half years of these pregnancy events have taught me anything, it’s that it's unlikely to end there. I can’t remember the last Bump Club I walked away from where people weren’t swapping numbers and creating WhatsApp groups.

Sound good? We welcome all pregnant people at any stage of the journey, so whether you’re 2 weeks in or 2 weeks over, we’d love to meet you.

Bump Club is free to attend (just pay for your order), but booking is essential. To join us, grab your space here…

Preparing for labour isn't about memorising facts. It's about building yourself UP. And that's found in...
.. the thinking. .. the talking. .. the doing. .. the reflecting. .. the questioning.

Which is why I run my antenatal courses is about the hands-on, skills based, problem solving approach to the birth and baby topics that matter most to you.

Sound good? My next group antenatal classes starts in three weeks and there's only three spaces left! Grab yours here...

One of the things people say about my group antenatal course is how much it helped them, as individuals. Honestly, that doesn't surprise me.

Even in a group setting, every part of every session I deliver is shaped around the people in the room, their needs, and their birth goals. It's what I pride myself on.

Antenatal classes should never be about listening; preparing for birth and baby life is thinking, learning, and doing. Creating the space for this is what I do best.

Why? Because I spend my life supporting all forms of birth in Cornwall: home and hospital, 'natural' to induction, caesarean and otherwise. But, on top of all of that, I am a teacher with over 15 years experience in GCSE classrooms.

I know what birth in Cornwall is.
I know what proper, valuable learning is.
And none of it happens sitting in front of a powerpoint.

Antenatal courses with me are about the things that really make a difference:
- the doing
- the seeing
- the talking
- the problem solving
- the experimenting
- the feeling they have during all of that.

Since 2023, parents-to-be have trusted me to prepare them for their birth and baby experiences; they know that I use every ounce of my lived, professional experience and insight to get them where they need to be.

My experience has created this course.
The 5* rated reviews are the things that tell me I do it well.

So, if you're looking for an antenatal course you can just turn up to and tick off your list, I'm probably not the one for you. BUT if you're counting down the months until your baby appears and want to get a handle on what's coming your way, you might want to check my courses out.

My next group antenatal course starts on January 11th, only has 3 spaces left & is perfect for Feb, March & April due dates.

"Doing this course has helped me feel really excited for birth, supported and like I've found a world that I didn't know existed..." (Izzy)

Feedback like this tells my that my group antenatal course does exactly what it's designed to do: build people up for what comes really next.

I'm not going to be fluffy about it: labour, birth, those first few months... they're tough.

Potentially, it'll be the toughest thing you'll ever do, or you've ever done so far. But with the right tools behind you, not only will you cope with it, but you'll do it with confidence & control.

That's why we don't just cover the stages of labour: we explore the biomechanics, emotional support, massage and advocacy that makes it more manageable.

It's why we don't just cover your options for birth: we explore the pros, the cons, the alternatives in a zero-judgement space to talk, to help you figure out what you really want (and how to get it).

It's why we don't just cover nappy changes & breastfeeding positions: we explore the biological norms for your recovery, for baby's existence and for the things that underpin feeding, hygiene and sleep to get you ready for what the reality is likely to be (and give you options to navigate it your way).
.. and that whole 'other' world thing? Well that's the doula in me. It's the connections to other professionals in Cornwall, insights into perspectives and practices from all over the world, its the support that extends beyond the last day of our course.

I don't do antenatal courses to run through a script, to tick the boxes or to cover the basics: I do it to help you feel ready and supported for your birth & baby adventure. It's the very least you deserve & a privilege to do.

My January course is just four weeks away, has only three spaces left: one of them could well be yours. For course details and booking, head to https://www.borntobirthcornwall.co.uk/group-antenatal-class-cornwall (link in bio)

I call you a birth team for a reason: you’re in this together. My antenatal course gives you the skills to be an amazing one…

Positive birth experiences come in all shapes and forms, but they all have one thing in common: they’re an event filled with love, trust and unwavering support. And that starts with you two.

Experience has taught me that the more birth partners understand and can do, the better the birth experience for everyone.

The hormones you influence…
The birth positions you help her into…
The feeding schedule you’re part of…
The postnatal recovery you support

All of this matters, more than you’ve ever been told before. Which is why taking some time to tackle it together can be such a gamechanger for your baby’s birth.

Let’s be real: pregnancy is so exciting but it’s no bed of roses.

Growing a baby, preparing for birth and everything in between is a crazy, wild ride from start to finish & the only people who really get it are those living it…

Which is why Bump Club exists: the chat that happens around our (decaf) coffee table is filled with the stories, questions and laughter that happens when people who are riding the same rollercoaster come together.

… and that’s why you all more-often-than-not swap numbers at the end.

Sound good? We welcome all pregnant people at any stage of the journey, so whether you’re 2 weeks in or 2 weeks over, we’d love to meet you.
