We had the absolute joy of photographing this year’s Albert Hall Pantomime: Maid Marian

It had everything you want from a proper panto — big laughs, bold costumes, glorious chaos, plenty of thigh-slapping moments and more than a few “Oh no we didn’ts!” echoing around the Albert Hall. Exactly as it should be.

Huge congratulations to the cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes for putting on a show bursting with energy, heart, and festive fun. Capturing all that magic (and mischief) was an absolute treat

At Mogwai Media, we’re always up for photographing stories that make people laugh, cheer, and forget the world for a while.

Oh yes we are...

Here it is… what you’ve all been waiting for.
The big reveal.
Because there are big clients… and then there are biiiiigggg clients.

A few weeks ago, we had a Zoom call with a very important man … Father Christmas himself, he called us directly from the North Pole HQ (he’d seen some of our work on Facebook ) — during our call, we discovered that poor Father Christmas is absolutely overwhelmed. The reindeer have demolished the sugar stash for the hot chocolates and are currently vibrating wide-eyed around the workshop, the elves are two spreadsheets away from a festive meltdown, and the Naughty & Nice List?
Let’s just say: red alert levels of chaos.

So, Mogwai Media has officially been hired to step in and save Christmas.
Our mission: untangle the madness, check the list, check it twice, and attempt to decipher whatever sparkly “database” the elves have created this year.

Now it’s your turn.

Are you Naughty?
Nice?
Or delightfully somewhere in between?

There’s only one way to find out…

And once you know your festive fate…
Share it. Tag your friends. Expose your siblings. Send it to your Aunt Nancy.
Post your results loud and proud

Something terribly festive is stirring in Mogwai HQ…

There are whispers in the wires and jingly bells somewhere inside the hard drives. Apparently, it’s nearly December — the season of twinkly lights, questionable jumpers (some of us keep that theme alive all year round), and judging Dave purely on which Quality Street he eats first.
(Because honestly… who goes for orange first?!)

And this year — if you hadn’t guessed — Mogwai Media has fully embraced the chaos.
We’re decking the halls, jingling the bells, and sporting noses redder than Rudolph himself.
(Sam still has her cold. Send tissues.)

So! On the 1st of December, we’ll be unwrapping something a little special…
A project that’s been kept under wraps tighter than someone armed with a fresh reel of Sellotape and absolutely nothing but time.

We won’t say too much… but there is a list.
It has been checked twice.
And come Monday, we’re all about to find out who’s been naughty — and who’s been nice.

Dave said, “I’ll just climb a small hill for the perfect shot.”
Two hours, one headtorch, and a mild existential crisis later — the fireworks went off.

Somewhere above Elan Valley, Dave balanced on a rock, tripod in one hand, most likely snacks in the other.

The night exploded — fireworks painting reflections across the river
The Elan Valley lit up like a dragon sneezing starlight, and Mogwai Dave got the shot.

Proof that patience (and a sturdy pair of boots) pays off.

Last night — coats on, gloves pulled back out from the dusky depths of the cupboard, and hats that may not survive another winter pulled firmly over ears — we bundled ourselves up and set off toward Machynlleth.

(Shortly after, we had to pull over and unbundle ourselves, because an hour in the car with that many layers, the heating on, and the music up was never going to last long.)

We arrived in the rain. The proper Welsh kind — not the romantic drizzle sort, but the one that makes you question whether someone’s turned a sprinkler on above your head. Cameras were tucked under coats as we dashed out, trying to keep the lenses dry.

But by 6:30, as the drums of the samba band began to roll down the street, the rain stopped. Puddles pooled in the road, catching the glow of the lanterns and throwing the light back in the most magical way.

Lanterns glowed in the damp autumn air, weaving through the streets like ribbons of light. The samba rhythm carried laughter and footsteps along the cobbles, leading the procession towards the football club, where fireworks waited beyond the dark.

Through our lenses, the evening became a tapestry of colour, movement, and fleeting moments — each lantern a story, each reflection a little spell of its own. Capturing it felt like chasing wisps of light through a town that shimmered with autumn magic.

They appeared quietly — made from acorns, leaves, and bits of the woodland floor — and before long, they had personalities, voices, and adventures.

Not everything we make has to serve a purpose. Sometimes creativity just wants to play. To remind us of wonder. To make us look a little closer at the small, strange, beautiful things.

That same spark runs through everything we do — from photographing moments to building worlds online. Whether it’s pixels or petals, stories grow when imagination is given space to wander.

When night falls, the creatives emerge…

At Mogwai Media, we’re embracing the eerie, the unexpected, and a little bit of mischief in the build up to Halloween.

From the shadows, ideas come to life, and even the most unusual visions find their form.

This Halloween, we’re not just dressing up—we’re bringing brands to life with creativity that dares to be different.
Ready to let your brand’s imagination run wild… if you dare?

Smells of sizzling yumminess, tummies rumbling, cameras clicking.

Brecon Food Festival was a full-on sensory experience — and we were there capturing a few delicious moments.

Birthday photoshoot brief: capture Helen and Coco looking flawless in the golden countryside evening light.
Result: mission accomplished. ✅

Helen turned up looking every bit the part, Coco gave us her best angles, and behind the scenes, Faye was the unsung hero — rattling sugar cubes, making mysterious noises, and generally working harder than anyone should on “ear management.”
She doubled as lookout too, ready to head off any equine shenanigans before they started.
Basically, Coco got the model treatment and the security detail.

The weather did its bit — sunny, lush, and very cooperative — which meant we came away with some cracking shots that show off not just Helen and Coco, but the whole team effort behind them. Because let’s be honest, no great horse photo is complete without someone off-camera doing the weirdest job imaginable.

Crikey, Mogwais!

In a few days, you’ll be all glowy and fabulous with sun-kissed tans, popping into Co-op for the next round of BBQ supplies (because who wants to be in a kitchen when the sun’s on full power?).
If, while reaching for your burgers and buns, you spot a pale, sunken-eyed, gremlin-esque Mogwai clutching a bag of nuts and seeds like a vampiric squirrel preparing for winter — that’ll be us. We’ve been busy. No sunshine for us today. (We tried… but the laptops overheated, Sam declared herself “Melting like the witch in The Wizard of Oz,” and the flying monkey couldn’t be trusted outside on his own.)

So, what’s kept us indoors?
This weekend we swapped screens for scenery and headed deep into the breathtaking Cambrian Mountains to shoot lifestyle photos for Cambrian Mountains Glamping & Camping’s shiny new website (coming soon!).
The weather couldn’t have been better — blue skies, golden sunshine, and fresh mountain air The site itself is absolutely stunning: rolling views, cosy glamping pods, and a setting that practically posed for the camera. Everywhere we turned there was another perfect shot waiting to happen, and we left with memory cards brimming with fabulous imagery.
Back in the office, we’ve been in full creative mode — editing, refining, and polishing every detail to make sure the finished website reflects just how beautiful the place truly is. The project is now in the client’s hands for review… so watch this space for the big reveal.

And then …

Race Round the Lakes is now LIVE!
We’re beyond excited to finally unleash this beauty into the world. Building the site was an absolute joy — from the first layout to the final polish — and it’s packed with all the energy, colour, and spirit of race day itself.
You might even recognise some familiar faces (possibly yours!) in the photos from the spring event — the day your Facebook feed was wall-to-wall with heroic runners powering through miles, conquering hills, and smiling through the sweat.
We wanted the site to capture that magic: the rush of the starting horn, the cheer of the crowd, and the pride of crossing the finish line. Whether you’re signing up for your next challenge, checking race results, or simply reliving the memories, it’s all there — bright, bold, and ready for you.
So lace up, take a look, and maybe start stretching… you never know when you’ll be inspired to join the fun.👉 www.rtl.wales

What’s next?
Plenty more exciting things are brewing, including a brand-new Mogwai Media site. (Sudden realisation: we’re sorely lacking a vampiric squirrel mascot. This feels like a missed branding opportunity.)

For now, it’s back to holding laptops over desk fans and cracking on before the next big thing lands.
Stay cool, Mogwais — it’s hot out there.
