The power of a woman in her marriage is like a double-edged sword - she can be the crown that adorns her husband's life, bringing glory, support, and upliftment, or she can be the anchor that grounds him, providing stability, wisdom, and humility. Whichever role she chooses, her influence is undeniable.

She can be the sunshine that brightens his day or the calm in every storm. Her words can build him up or tear him down. Her love can be the safe haven where he finds peace or the spark that ignites his passions.

The power of a woman in her marriage is a beautiful thing, shaping the dynamics of the relationship and molding the future of their love story.

I remember sitting across from them in my office — two people who had once vowed to spend forever together. Michael, with his arms folded, eyes darting away. Tolu, blinking back tears, her voice barely above a whisper.

“He doesn’t talk to me anymore,” she said.
“She doesn’t listen,” he replied, almost instantly.
The room fell silent.

You’d think, after twenty years as a marriage counselor, I’d have grown numb to these moments. But I haven’t. Every couple I meet carries a story — a beginning full of fire, a middle full of motion, and a present that sometimes feels like they’re roommates instead of lovers. But I’ve learned this: emotional distance is not the end — it’s a signpost. It’s a call to come closer.

The Emotional Drift

Emotional disconnection doesn’t happen overnight. It creeps in, slow and silent — during hurried mornings, unspoken hurts, distracted dinners, and phones that never stop buzzing. What once was laughter becomes silence. What once was touch becomes routine. The heart stops reaching.

But here’s the hope: what drifted apart can come back together. The same way two hands once found each other at the altar, they can find each other again — through intentional effort, not just passion. And it starts with one brave step.

Every area of a marriage involves goal setting and a readiness to work towards achieving those goals. From building a strong emotional connection to managing finances, parenting, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, couples need to be intentional and collaborative in setting and pursuing goals.

By doing so, they can create a shared vision for their relationship, prioritize their efforts, and work together to overcome challenges. Goal setting in marriage encourages communication, teamwork, and mutual support, helping couples to grow and thrive together.

Whether it's planning a future, overcoming obstacles, or simply enjoying each other's company, having goals and working towards them can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment to the relationship.

God wants us to trust Him in every season of our marriage, whether it's a time of joy and celebration or a time of challenge and uncertainty.

Trusting God means having faith that He is sovereign, loving, and actively working in our lives, even when we can't see the outcome. It's about surrendering our worries, fears, and doubts to Him, and believing that His plans for our marriage are good and perfect.

By trusting God, couples can navigate the ups and downs of marriage with confidence, hope, and peace, knowing that He is always with them, guiding and strengthening their bond.

Marriage is often described as a journey that requires effort and dedication from both partners.
While it's true that marriage involves work, the beauty lies in the fact that it's a collaborative effort between two people who are committed to building a life together.
The work in marriage isn't about one person shouldering the load, but rather about two individuals coming together, supporting each other, and working as a team to navigate life's challenges and celebrate its triumphs.
When two people unite in marriage, they form a partnership that can be a source of strength, comfort, and joy, making the work they do together a labor of love.

Contentment is a state of being satisfied and at peace with one's circumstances, relationships, or life in general. It involves a sense of acceptance, gratitude, and fulfillment, and is often characterized by a lack of discontent or unrest.
Contentment is not the same as happiness, which can be fleeting, but rather a deeper and more stable sense of well-being and satisfaction. It's about appreciating what you have, finding joy in the present moment, and feeling at peace with yourself and your place in the world.
