The votes are in, and we have a monumental winner! In a final that saw the giants of the industry fall, Jona Lewie’s "Stop the Cavalry" has officially been crowned the winner of the SupernovaPlays UK Christmas Song Showdown and wins the Christmas cracker paper crown!
The Rise of jona:
Jona Lewie’s path to the crown was nothing short of legendary. To get here, he had to take down some of the biggest heavyweights in music:
He started by marching past the indie charm of The Pretenders.
He won the "Battle of the Commute" against Chris Rea.
He pulled off a massive shock by defeating the charity powerhouse Band Aid in the Pre-Finals.
Finally, he stood his ground against the lyrical titan The Pogues to claim the top spot!
A Final Fact:
Did you know that Jona Lewie actually played almost every instrument on this track himself? Aside from the iconic brass band (provided by the Cory Band from South Wales), Jona played the synthesizers, the percussion, and even the kazoo! It’s a true one-man masterpiece that conquered the charts.
