Pavement Licker is a platform for artists & writers to be published without pushing an agenda or manifesto by James-Lee Duffy and Josh Jones Successfully.

Back in 2003, graphic artist James-Lee Duffy and writer Josh Jones started a ‘zine. It promoted fresh talent alongside more established names in the underground art world and it was fiercely independent. Nearly 20 years later it’s still going strong and Pavement Licker has grown into something much bigger, while still retaining that original focus. Known for their extensive contacts in the art wor

ld, Pavement Licker has continued to promote artists to a global audience through the ‘zine, collaborations and curated art shows. They even opened up the work of their favourite artists to a whole new audience on the labels of an eponymous beer created with the brewery Verdant. They’ve also worked with the Saatchi Gallery, collaborated on clothing lines, made more zines, created screen prints, raised lots of money for charity, and continue to do what they want.

The Dragon Bar 1998 - 2008

A 300 page oral history of the infamous Dragon Bar in London. A bar with only a loose grip on rules, it had gloriously graffitied toilets, a bit out the back, which became a space for the London graffiti community to paint and gather, and a free gallery space upstairs where Banksy held his first Santa’s Ghetto/first London show, FAILE and Bäst did their first UK show and many, many others exhibited.

The Dragon Bar was, arguably and unwittingly, the birthplace of the ‘street art explosion’. We spoke to pretty much every artist (and staff and wild regular drinkers) who exhibited, drank and had a lot of fun there, including fashion designer and artist (who was the original door person and would cut people’s ties off if they tried to get in wearing one), lucie.flynn and many more.
