Singing teaching explained, females in STEM and accessible play
On this week’s Parents’ Show, Lydia and our new presenter Clare Rickard are joined by Charlotte West, who is a singing teacher at Hertfordshire Music Service .
Charlotte explains what a typical singing lesson involves – it’s not just ‘singing’) , how she believes anyone can learn to sing, how to look after your voice and how environment, your mood, personal medications and well-being affects the quality of your singing. Charlotte also explains where to look if your child is interested in more professional singing coaching.
In the second part of the show, Lydia meets up with Parisa Reza, who has recently finished a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Energy Conversion and another Masters in Research. Paris talks about what inspired her interests in engineering, the opportunities for women in her home country and what initiatives she believes would benefit more females joining STEM subjects in the future. Parisa will begin studying for her Doctorate this year in Mechanical Engineering.
Finally, Helen Dodd from Exeter University, joins Lydia to talk about the lack of accessibility to play areas for disabled children.
That’s this Thursday at 7pm and next Sunday at 8pm on 92.6FM, DAB+, online at mix926.com and on your smartspeaker.
