So, you're about to shoot a video but are confused about whether to look into or off-camera. It's common, and so we've got some tips to keep in mind that should help.🎥

Looking into the camera:
Looking into the camera creates an immediate connection with the viewer because it comes off as more personal. It's a great approach when you want to build trust and convey emotions directly, such as making a personal statement. You may choose to look into the camera for personal vlogs, testimonials, and demonstrations educating your audience.

Looking off-camera:
Depending on the effect you are looking for, you may choose to look off-camera for a number of reasons. For example, there may be multiple people in the room conducting an interview, and this creates a "third-party" effect for the viewer. This style of shooting makes it less daunting for the person being interviewed. Looking away from the camera can also help if there is a lot of dialogue or when looking at what they are explaining.

The decision ultimately depends on the purpose and tone of your video. If you aim to establish a personal connection, evoke emotions, or assert authority, direct eye contact is a powerful choice. On the other hand, if you want to stimulate curiosity, create a narrative, or leave room for viewer interpretation, looking off-camera can be highly effective.
