Nearly a third of ‘senior’ charge point operators (CPOs) cannot identify charging failures, putting charging performance, maintenance efficiency and 99% uptime targets at risk, a new study has found.

The research from EV charging platform M***a points to significant gaps in diagnostic tools and fault visibility across the UK charging network.

Chinese carmaker Changan has premiered its E06 electric SUV ahead of its arrival in the UK and mainland Europe in early 2027.

Debuted at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, the E06 – known as the Q05 in the brand’s domestic market – will enter the small electric SUV space alongside the Škoda Elroq, Kia EV3 and Jeep Avenger EV.

Toyota is opening UK orders for its Urban Cruiser all-electric compact SUV from 1 December, priced from £29,995 and with up to 264 miles of range.

Starting deliveries in the first quarter of 2026, the Urban Cruiser joins the bZ4X as Toyota’s second fully electric car and is twinned with the Suzuki e Vitara SUV under the carmakers’ ongoing collaboration.

The first government-backed drug-driving campaign in over a decade has gone live to tackle a steep rise in offences and fatalities.

Launched by Think! – the Department for Transport’s road safety campaign programme – the campaign targets young men.

DfT statistics show around 90% of drivers impaired by drugs in collisions are male, and four in every 10 are aged between 17 and 30.

A new Constituency Map giving a detailed snapshot of how local communities are progressing in the transition to electric driving is now available for England.

Launched by electric car driver association EVA England and developed by Field Dynamics, with input from Zapmap, the map gives a breakdown of EV uptake and the availability of public charging infrastructure in each constituency in England.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves will announce a £1.5bn package to help further drive the rollout of electric cars among drivers, reports suggest ahead of this week’s Budget.

The EV funding includes an extra £1.3bn for the Electric Car Grant scheme, which will be extended by an extra year.

The Budget is also expected to unveil an additional £200m to accelerate the rollout of charge points across the UK.
