Five more model are now eligible for the UK’s Electric Car Grant, adding to the growing roster.

The latest entrants to the scheme include hatchbacks such as the Cupra Born, Volkswagen ID.3 and Peugeot e-208, plus the Peugeot e-2008 and Peugeot e-Rifter. These join the existing Nissan, Vauxhall, Renault/Alpine and Citroën EVs already cleared to receive major discounts under the scheme.

Ford is gearing up to launch a new family of affordable electric cars with the help of a new platform and assembly processes.

Its Universal EV Platform will enable a range of affordable vehicles to be produced at scale for customers – all will be electric, “fun to drive” and digitally advanced with over-the-air updates that will keep improving the vehicle.

Vauxhall has dropped a few clues to the future identity of its GSE performance models with teaser images of its inbound concept.

Released ahead of the concept’s debut next month at the IAA Mobility motor show in Munich, the images give a sneak insight into the brand’s plans for the GSE sub-brand along with the next evolution in the Vauxhall Compass frontal design theme.

Used electric car sales are running at record levels and are currently outperforming other fuel types across August to date, BCA has reported.

So far this month, electric cars currently have the highest first-time conversion of any fuel type and also the strongest CAP performance of any fuel type for both the monthly and live product.

Nissan’s next-generation Qashqai e-Power has completed the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats journey on a single tank, with fuel to spare.

Ahead of the arrival of the new hybrid family SUV this autumn, Nissan engineers drove two Qashqai e-Power vehicles over the full length of the UK, covering 837 miles using just one tank of petrol, with 100 miles of fuel left unused at the finish line.

The number of fines racked up by fleet drivers has rocketed over 25% in the last year, new data from Jaama reveals.

The fleet management software firm surveyed its top 20 customers and found driver fines during the 12 months between 2023/24 and 2024/25 rose from 844,971 fines to 1,080,556 – that’s up by 28% or 23,5585 fines in a year.
