Supporting local means so much
Cost of living doesnt help people
Today, for the first time in a very long time, our shop didn’t make a single sale. 🥺
That’s hard to say out loud, but it also raises questions we genuinely don’t know the answers to.
Are people still coming into bricks-and-mortar shops? 🏬
Are people still shopping in Downpatrick? 🛒
Is retail changing faster than towns like ours can keep up with? 📬
Or are we simply doing something wrong?
We’re not posting this for sympathy. We know everyone is under pressure right now, households and businesses alike.
But as a small independent shop, days like today make us question what the future looks like. Rising overheads, electricity, stock costs and wages don’t stop on quiet days, and small towns only survive when people use them.
So we’d genuinely like to ask:
🌼What makes you choose to shop locally?
🌼What would encourage you into town more often?
🌼What could businesses like ours do better?
We’d really value honest feedback — good or bad.
And to everyone who continues to support local businesses in Downpatrick: thank you. It means more than you probably realise. 🫶
