🚨 .tour At Sand Moor GC Results 🚨

WOWSER that was tough but absolutely brilliant all at the same time.
What a stunning Golf Course is.
In the same area at Alwoodly & Moor Town, it’s certainly holds its own.

Green speeds at a whopping 12.5 on the stimp certainly made you think when doing your approaches, chipping and certainly putting.
-2 gross for the Pro’s, around a tricky course was a very honest score and 33pts in The Amateur League showed how much the course bit into you.

For me, I just couldn’t swing the club to save my life, with probably only 4 or 5 good shots of the day, short game was deffo a Golf IQ issue with a few poor club choices when around the green - putting wise, well that’s was shocking with 40 putts.

24pts don’t cut the mustard sadly, and a 93 gross adjusted from 95 showed how much I struggled.
However I’ll deffo be back this summer to get revenge with & 😂

Golf really confuses me 😂😂😂

Somehow, despite playing garbage on Friday (+11 Gross 83), I managed to get another Hcp reduction making it 3 outta the last 4 that have created a drop. So that’s from 8.5 down to 7.8

Way I see it is with 35 putts (5x 3 putts 😮 not like me), but being -2 on the 4 Par3’s, despite me not feeling like I’m swinging well, actually means I’m playing better than I think. Which is testament to the work and tuition I’m getting from . What feels like my worst isn’t actually anything like it. And it’s nice to have that feeling now.

I’m still struggling with the feeling of getting the club laid off at the top still, like I had in our first lesson and I’ve randomly started hitting iron shots out the heel (no doubt caused by early extension and my hips thrusting forward again) but I’m somehow getting it round.

But I’ve got time to get these things worked on before my next comp on 1st June at Sand Moor GC.

Bring it on!!!!!

Great to get out on again yesterday and this time with the boy for his first visit.
Not like us to not get a photo.

Warm up felt good, putting the drills and feels has given into play. And knowing how well I played on Monday for the event at Hallowes Golf Club, I was full of confidence.

A nice friendly scratch game between us, which only had me 2 back through 9 holes. The chip in on the 7th certainly helped for the birdie after a stretch of 4 bogeys early on.

Back 9 was annoying, with a needless bogey on 12 where I was torn to what shot I should have played, and chose the ground route instead of aerial (the slow-mo chip is the one coming back) and then the double on 14 was just a calamity from the tee, all because I went I chose the wrong club and deep down I knew it!
Sadly I wasn’t able to do the come back and I lost by 3 shot to him.

Putting wasn’t as solid and I deffo left several out there, but shooting what I did, being Net -1 is always nice knowing it could have been a lot better.
Ok I’ve gone up 0.1 on the hcp but that’s only coz the 81 was shot on Blue’s at Dunham and not the competition Whites which is 0.8in the Score Diff.

Game feels good though and looking forward to .tour double header at Portal & Hill Valley.

Well at least I can say I hit my clubs the same distances of one of Golf’s greatest ever players - ok, it’s 78yrs on and technology has allegedly “got better” - but still…..do average golfers hit the ball much farther, if they’re truly honest? Does age come into it?

I know I don’t hit it as far as I’d like - that’s due to a mix of poor strength mixed with inconsistency of technique - after all I’m just a 45yo, 8 hcp golfer, who doesn’t exercise other than on a golf course and works a desk job lol

🚨 2020ProTour Underpin Master at Hallowes GC🚨

Well 2nd place with 40pts is no disgrace at all.

My first individual event of the year ticked off and as far as a League defence goes; I’ll take that for the opener.
Especially with the biggest field we’ve ever had for the Amateur League, with 30 competitors taking to the Links of both Make and Female golfers!

The hard work I have done under the tutelage of Alex Clapp with long game & the recent work with Dan Grieves on short game is paying off.
Gentlemen; I thank you. And looking back at notes given to me via Phil Kenyon’s Academy from Coach Nick Soto, my pace control was pretty much on point today.

The entire round I felt like if/when I made a slight error with my long game, I was able to get it back in the next shot and it dwell on the poor shots.
In all fairness the swing exceptional!

The front 9 alone, I left 3 clear birdie putts above ground, but again bounced back with a well holed birdie putt on the Par 3, 8th hole.

Making the turn at +1 the back 9, I felt like I was holing on through holes 10-14, despite a beautifully holes Release 1, 9i from 23yds. But 3 consecutive bogeys frustrated me and really made me dig deep.

It’s only one event but the swing clicked today and felt repeatable for the first time since NEVER!
Bring on the next 2020ProTour Events.

Just the most sensational day at Short Game School followed by a twilight round on the Marquess Course afterwards.

Great catching up with Dan after a couple of years from my first visit. Reason for it, was the completely new 3 wedge setup in the bag (spoiler alert for the upcoming WITB).
And it was certainly worth the trip based on the differences between the old wedge loft set up and the new one which I’ve never had.

The Marquess Course is a real treat. Some outstanding holes that are visually sensational and in some cases, brutal to play if you get it wrong - and trust me, I had a few whoopsie’s.

I’m going to be doing a Reel series for my round, rather than a traditional course vlog. Time was a problem to get round and film a traditional vlog, but all shots will be shown so stay tuned for trust coming up.

A huge thanks to all the staff at Woburn for hospitality, welcome, allowing me to film and conversations.
I can’t wait to come back and play The Duke & The Duchess Courses.

Come play the 14th hole, Par 3
at 171yds off the White Tee’s

Who says is only good shots? Nah, nah! Not with me - I’ll show you all shots! Good, bad, and in my case worse than any Date you wanna forget about!

Enjoy folks - more ups and downs of a amateur golfer to come 😂😂😂

Another DP World Venue ticket off my list - - former host of the British Masters.
It’s a course I’ve always wanted to play since I first saw the venue on telly in the 90’s.
And the fact I got it for £32.99, booking via , I couldn’t resist, whilst I’m in the area.

A great welcome in the Pro Shop from Golf Operations Manager Simon Giles, speaking about the history of the course and what’s in the pipeline over the next 12 months, with significant changes and redevelopment of some holes on the estate.

Needless to say, in July 2027 where they’re hoping it’s all finished, I’ll deffo be coming back.
Fingers crossed my game is a lot better than it was today, with me fighting push slices, fats and the occasional toe hook - yup it was ALL going off 😂
I’ll even post a Reel as to how bad my game was 😂

With water in 10 holes, I was worried for sure, and yes, I did find the Agua on numerous occasions 😂😂😂

But a BIG shout out to my new mate - what an unbelievable gentleman!
He asked if I was out solo and would I like to join him and share the buggy, prior to me going to the 1st tee.
Whilst in conversation, of which the pair of us didn’t shut up the entire round, which was brilliant, he said “I asked Simon if you was out solo, and as I know your accent isn’t from round here, I figured it’d be only right to ask if you wanted company and a guid around the course”.

Simply BRILLIANT! Such a gent and such a kind thing to do.
Collingtree, I hope this is recognised by the club in his favour, coz that was and is, simply classy as hell!

Can’t wait to come back next year. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

So glad I spent some time on the range yesterday afternoon, on the eve of The Masters 2026 staring, in glorious sunshine before the weather has turned like it has today.

I don’t know about anyone else, but The Masters has always felt like the start of my season. It just feels different.

I wanted to carry on grinding the changes that and I have been working on, where the club face is at left arm parallel and the how the transition is started. This is shown in the clips (apologies for their length).

It felt really comfortable on the most part, which was pleasing, with tight little draws on majority of the shots. The poor ones were a push/fade which I knew where I had gone wrong for that shot to come about.

Shots seen are:
1 & 2 - 9i
3 & 4 - 7i
5 & 6 - 6hyb
7 & 8 - 4wd (3HL as it’s stamped)

I have to admit it feels add with pretty much all shots now being a draw - as that’s never been my shot shape. It was always a push/fade/slice/oh crap it’s off the planet 😂
But if that’s the shape now, so be it. I just want rid of the casting and have better contact - not much to ask for eh? 😂😂😂

The hard work will continue that’s for certain.
Huge thanks to the boy Clapp for his patience. He needs a sodding medal with me 😂😂😂
