The new Bambu Lab A2L is officially being put through its paces!

For one of its first big jobs, we've loaded up this detailed helmet print to see what the larger build volume can really do. So far, we're impressed with the amount of detail it's producing and having that extra build space opens up a lot more possibilities for larger projects.

As a small 3D printing shop, every new machine has to prove itself before it joins the production team full time, and this is certainly making a strong first impression.

Well done to our three bookings during this evening's session.

First up was Evan, who had just received a 3D printer for his birthday. He learned the basics to help him get up and running safely, confidently, and successfully.

We also welcomed brother and sister Zachary and Elodie who worked brilliantly together as a team to create their personalised key rings.

A fantastic effort from everyone this evening. Well done!

After a long day of troubleshooting, tearing down extruders, cleaning parts, and getting hands covered in filament dust, I'm happy to say nearly all of the printers are back up and running! 🎉

There’s still one stubborn issue left involving a sensor, but that's a job for Monday. For now, the workshop is back to producing prints and getting orders moving again.

Tomorrow will be a little different though — no 3D printing for a day. Instead, I'll be switching over to the laser cutter and working on: ✨ Personalised mirrors

🍎 Teacher leaving gifts

It's always nice to mix things up and jump between machines and projects. One day it's printer repairs, the next it's laser engraving and creating gifts ready for customers.

Thanks to everyone waiting on orders while I got everything back on track. Now it's time to get making again! 🚀

One of the biggest limitations with helmet printing has always been build volume. Larger helmets often need to be split into multiple pieces, which means extra assembly, more sanding, and longer finishing times.

That's why I'm excited to be working on some new helmet designs using our larger bed printers. Being able to print bigger sections in one piece not only speeds up production but also improves the overall finish and strength of the final product.

We're currently testing a range of new designs and sizes, making the most of the extra build space to create cleaner, more detailed helmets with fewer joins.
