- GAS 10 YR PARTY - DJ ANNOUNCEMENT - LUPINI -
Lupini has slowly, quietly established themselves as a pivotal figure in the North West’s music scene. Now introduced to a wider audience via the ‘DJ Mag Best Radio Show 2022’ winning NTS residency as a host of Soup to Nuts (and a BBC Radio 1 show with Benji B) Lupini is a DJ, broadcaster, workshop facilitator and all-round music enthusiast.
Lupini was the station manager and programmer at Melodic Distraction Radio for five years, with an eye on connecting microcommunities across the world. Keenly plugged into stations internationally, Lupini curated multiple international radio swaps, as well as panel discussions about the future and politics of the changing radio format, as well as championing the issue in articles with DJ Mag.
As a performer, Lupini has one foot in the club and the other in the home hifi, lilting easily from ambient (under the HEAVY TEXTURE project), to mutant swung techno, industrial, dub-wise sludge and noisy post punk. This eclecticism is reflected in the artists Lupini’’s played alongside, playing alongside icons like Terry Riley, Lucretia Dalt, Laila Sakini, Joanne Robertson, ML Buch, Holy Other and Clair Rousay, and just as deftly slipping into the club alongside Vladimir Ivkovic, Intergalactic Gary, Josey Rebelle, Nkisi, Helena Hauff & Batu.
Recently, Lupini has been crossing between DJ and live, debuting a live-broadcast artpiece for Radiophrenia Festival in 2022, before debuting a hybrid-live set at The Royal Albert Hall (London), The Science and Industry Museum (with Space Afrika) & The White Hotel (Salford), which melts down field recordings, computer music, data manipulation and spatial resonance.
