🦟 Runners, take note.
This isn’t just a weird heat rash — it’s Lyme disease.

I thought it was just an annoying insect bite. It was itchy at first, then started to fade in the middle while the red ring spread out. Luckily, I knew enough to get it checked.

Turns out, it was an erythema migrans rash — the classic sign of early Lyme disease, caused by tick bites. I never saw the tick. But it happened somewhere out on the trail.

I’m now on antibiotics and should make a full recovery — because I caught it early.

⚠️ If you run, hike, or walk in grassy or wooded areas — especially in the UK spring and summer — stay aware:
✅ Stick to paths when you can
✅ Check your legs and ankles after every run
✅ Know the signs (red, circular bullseye rash — not always itchy!)
✅ Trust your gut and see a doctor if something looks odd

Spread the word. Save a fellow runner. Share this post.

After a full year of filming, the seasons video is finally here. 🎬
It’s live now for paid subscribers — and it’ll be available to everyone on YouTube at the beginning of August.

Why spend a whole year on a single 3-mile loop?
In a world that tells us to go further, faster, and always seek more… this project reminded me of something different:

✨ You can stay close.
✨ Slow down.
✨ And still discover something new.

Come and see what I found on my doorstep:

Discover how one runner documented a year of seasonal change on a 3-mile route in Sandbach, Cheshire. A visual journey through nature, stillness, and finding adventure close to home.

✨From reedbeds to ruined colliery towers, this 3.5-mile loop through Whitfield Valley and Chatterley Whitfield has it all.

We set off from Ford Green Hall and jog north through one of Stoke-on-Trent’s hidden green gems — passing ponds, wildflower trails, and winding woodland paths. 🌿🦋

Climbing to the top of the old spoil heap rewards you with sweeping views across the city, out to Mow Cop and back over the haunting remains of Chatterley Whitfield Colliery — once Europe’s most productive coal mine. 🏭⛰️

Perfect for a steady jog or a relaxed weekend walk.
Full route and video coming to YouTube on Friday! 🏃‍♂️🎥

A peaceful four-mile run this morning before work—just me, the countryside, and the rising sun. I’m settling into my new job and having an extra day off each week is giving me more time and energy to train. June mornings like this are made for running: blue skies, warm air, quiet lanes, and fields full of life. Wet feet, thigh-high wheat, and a stretch along the canal made it one to remember. A perfect way to start the day—did you get out this morning? Make the most of every one, especially the stunners.

Some photos from this week’s YouTube video. Starting from Ridge Quarry at Marpleridge which is located near Hawk Green at Marple, Stockport. We head down the ridge enjoying stunning views of Manchester. Next we drop down through the woods to the Peak Forest Canal and on to Strines road and the River Goyt at Roman Bridge. It’s not Roman, it’s a pack horse bridge dating from about 1700 which presumably allowed access to Mellor Mill. We follow the Cown Edge way for a while before heading back down into the valley to Roman Lakes. Built in the 18th century, these manmade lakes helped power Mellor Mill. After it was destroyed by fire, the lakes became popular as a Victorian Pleasure Park. Next we head under the rail viaduct which is quite something, it’s on the Manchester - Sheffield line. We pause by the sluices that used to feed the Roman Lakes from the river Goyt before heading back to Roman Bridge and heading back up the hill to the starting point.
