Over on Patreon today members can join me as I set off from Knighton in Staffordshire to run along the Shropshire Union Canal, passing the old Cadbury’s wharf where chocolate crumb was once loaded onto boats and taken down to Bournville. Chocolate crumb — a mix of milk, sugar and cocoa — was the essential ingredient in much of Cadbury’s famous milk chocolate, including Dairy Milk. The video will be on general release on YouTube on 21st November https://www.patreon.com/posts/140445994

🍂 Autumn Walks in Swettenham 🍂

Looking for a perfect little walk this autumn? 🌿

In the quiet village of Swettenham you’ll find St Peter’s Church, peaceful meadows, and best of all the Swettenham Arms — a country pub with a cracking beer garden.

I’ve put together a short 2.5-mile walk that takes you through the fields and Swettenham Meadows Nature Reserve, finishing right back at the pub. Ideal for a crisp autumn afternoon and a pint in the bar (or in the garden if the sun’s out). 🍺

What if the greatest adventure… was right outside your door? 🌿

In a world that’s always telling us to go further, faster, chase the next big thing — I chose to do the opposite.

For the past year, I ran the same 3-mile loop near my home in Sandbach, Cheshire.
Month after month, through sun, snow, rain and mist — I stayed local, I slowed down… and I paid attention.

And what I found was something quietly extraordinary.

✨ Fields that changed colour with the seasons.
✨ Silent sunrises, frozen canals, and wildflower meadows.
✨ A connection to nature I never expected — all on a path I thought I already knew.

If you’ve ever felt like life is rushing by — this is your invitation to slow down, look closer, and rediscover the magic of what’s right on your doorstep. 💚

If you enjoy the video, I’d love it if you subscribed — it helps the channel grow, and it means a lot when people support this kind of slow, thoughtful storytelling.

🦟 Runners, take note.
This isn’t just a weird heat rash — it’s Lyme disease.

I thought it was just an annoying insect bite. It was itchy at first, then started to fade in the middle while the red ring spread out. Luckily, I knew enough to get it checked.

Turns out, it was an erythema migrans rash — the classic sign of early Lyme disease, caused by tick bites. I never saw the tick. But it happened somewhere out on the trail.

I’m now on antibiotics and should make a full recovery — because I caught it early.

⚠️ If you run, hike, or walk in grassy or wooded areas — especially in the UK spring and summer — stay aware:
✅ Stick to paths when you can
✅ Check your legs and ankles after every run
✅ Know the signs (red, circular bullseye rash — not always itchy!)
✅ Trust your gut and see a doctor if something looks odd
