๐จ Important Notice - AVIAN INFLUENZA ๐จ
Given the latest update from the government on the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) H5N1 in England, weโre making some temporary changes to our intake process to protect the wild birds we rescue and prevent the spread of disease.
๐น New requirement for admissions
Effective immediately, we ask that a short video of the bird youโre bringing in is submitted before we accept admission. This helps us assess whether:
- the bird is showing any signs of illness or distress
- weโre confident on-site biosecurity measures can be met
- we can safely care for the bird without risking other patients.
โ
What to include in your video/message
- A clear view of the bird
- Any noticeable symptoms: e.g., lethargy, discharge, abnormal feathers.
- The environment itโs been found in (garden, pond edge, woodland etc).
- Your contact details and how long youโve had it.
๐ We appreciate your cooperation
We know this is an extra step, but it helps us continue our rescue work safely and effectively. Thank you for helping ensure a safe environment for all the birds in our care.
If you have any questions or need help filming the clip, message us here and weโll talk you through it.
