This summer has been a reminder that pace isn’t the same as progress… 👉🏽

Some weeks have been packed with strategy sessions, client content creation, and planning collaborations with fellow business owners.

Others slowed right down for sunshine, family time, and a much-needed switch-off.

And both have shown why “smart marketing” matters so much.

Because when your marketing foundations are in place, you can keep momentum going without burning out.

“Smart marketing” doesn’t look the same for every business. 💡

We’ve got a new little home base - and it’s the start of something exciting. 💛

Like many of SoCo’s best chapters so far, this one started as a bit of a daydream.

A few months ago, I jotted a new, starry-eyed idea into my “maybe someday” notepad:

✨ A space where SoCo could grow - and help others do the same.

Not just a desk or a backdrop for editing sessions…
But a real-life space for connection, creativity, and practical support.

Then, just two weeks later, a fellow business owner mentioned a collaborative workspace that sounded a lot like the one I’d imagined.

It ticked nearly every box.

I met the entrepreneur behind it, Michael.
Saw the space.
Took a few days - and a few too many “should I/shouldn’t I?” conversations… (all while knowing deep down I couldn’t let this pass SoCo by).

So in mid-June, I moved in.

It’s a part-time creative + collaborative base I’m excited to try out - a chance to test ideas, meet more brilliant businesses, and build on our new offers.

And we’re already planning some exciting opportunities for the space, like:
✨Strategy sessions
💭Workshop-style events
💬Local drop-ins
🫱🏽‍🫲🏻Collaboration + connections with small business owners doing brilliant things

The very first one is coming in mid-August 👀

This isn’t just another workspace.

It’s a little hub for storytelling-led strategy, hands-on support, and thoughtful marketing made for real people.

Ever wonder what a realistic day looks like for our small digital marketing business? 👀

Take a peek at what a very real, random + unpolished day at SoCo looks like as I drag my camera along to capture it all… 🫣👆🏼

On this day, our core focus was capturing content for our client + strategizing ideas and plans for other projects and upcoming work for SoCo.

But, not all days look like this…

Some days are a real mix (like this day). 👆🏾

Some are mega busy with either back-to-back networking events, discovery meetings or content strategy sessions and workshops with clients.

And others require very little movement from our at-home desk set-up.

For instance, as I write this, I’m in my cosies.
I’m enjoying the last few sips of my morning coffee.
I’m wrapping up social content for the week while blasting the Wes Anderson Radio playlist on Spotify.
And, my Pomodoro timer is on in the background counting down with 12 minutes to go before I move on to editing the content I filmed in the very session captured above… 😉

Each day at SoCo might look different from one day to the next.

But, there are a few constants that we have with 99% of our days:

☕️ Our morning coffee (either paired with a morning walk, or a podcast while I get ready).

💻 1-hour minimum checking on the latest marketing ideas, learning a new skill for something like content editing, or gaining insight on a cool behavioral science marketing theory [adding notes + ideas to our ever-growing “brain dump” journal for client projects, future offers/ideas that will help other business owners in our South Coast community or random, dreamy thoughts for SoCo’s future].

✨ Checking in either on current client projects to prepare for upcoming meetings, workshops or sessions.
Or, engaging with them directly.

💛 Meaningful social media engagement or research during at least one daily 15-minute scroll on our social accounts.

I attended 5 networking events this week. And, no matter the industry, I kept hearing similar things from fellow business owners about their social media and digital marketing struggles… 👆🏼👉🏽
