Traffic alert: Serious collision – Sherburn in Elmet 🚨

We are currently responding to a serious collision on Moor Lane (B1222) in Sherburn in Elmet. As a result, both Moor Lane and the northbound carriageway of the A162 are closed.

These closures are expected to remain in place for some time. If you're planning to travel in the area, please use alternative routes and avoid the scene to allow emergency crews to respond. Reference: NYP-20082025-0122.

North Yorkshire Police is investigating the theft of a mobile phone which took place outside The Big Communi-Tea on Abbey Walk in Selby.

The incident happened at around midday on Friday, August 8.
A police spokesperson said: “A vulnerable male left his mobile phone on the wall near the venue.

“CCTV has identified three youths aged around 14 years (two boys and one girl) who were involved in the theft of the phone.

“The phone is of little monetary value, but is of huge significance to the victim as it has been adapted for use with specialist hearing aids.

“The stolen phone is a SAMSUNG A34 Android with a rear purple fascia and it was inside a purple flip wallet style case.
“The screensaver for the mobile is a brown dog.

“An Argos card and some paperwork which was contained within the wallet case has already been recovered by a member of the public and returned to the victim.

“If you have seen the mobile for sale, or if it has been handed into your business, or if you have found it, please contact North Yorkshire Police.”
