We were delighted to receive a cheque yesterday from local historian and author Bob Ogley for £1,000 for the Mayor’s chosen charities: SAYT - Sevenoaks Area Youth Trust and Citizens Advice in North and West Kent

Bob has generously donated £1000 from the proceeds of his latest book, ‘The Story of Knole Park’, a fascinating and detailed account of the history of one of Sevenoaks’ most treasured landmarks.

The Story of Knole Park is available to purchase for £20 from the Sevenoaks Town Council office on Bradbourne Vale Road. It’s an excellent read for anyone who loves Knole Park.

The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Cllr Tony Clayton, said, “My sincerest thanks to Bob for his very generous donation to my charities – Sevenoaks Area Youth Trust and Citizens Advice in North & West Kent."

NHS Kent and Medway are asking for the public's help to improve urgent care services in our local area. They want to understand what matters most to local people so that they can make sure these services are accessible, timely, and located where they are most needed.

You can complete their survey with your views of the Urgent Treatment Centre at Sevenoaks Hospital. The closing date is Monday 2 February 2026 at 9am.

HAVE YOUR SAY - COMPLETE OUR SURVEY!

We want to hear local residents’ views on the proposed installation or extension of double yellow lines on several roads in Sevenoaks.

Following feedback, we’ve identified 14 road corner locations where additional parking restrictions could improve visibility and safety for drivers and pedestrians.

Sevenoaks Town Council is proposing to submit these to Kent Highways for consideration and subsequent publication of a formal public consultation.

These would seek solely to reinforce the existing restrictions to parking which are in place via the Highway Code, which stipulates that cars must not park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction and should not park on a bend in the road except in authorised spaces.

The locations are on the following roads:
- St John’s Road
- Bethel Road
- Mill Lane
- The Crescent
- Hillingdon Avenue
- Ash Platt Road
- Letter Box Lane
- Bradbourne Road

Visit our website to find out more and complete our survey by 31 January: https://www.sevenoakstown.gov.uk/Proposed_Corner_Protection_locations_50155.aspx

New Year's Message from the Mayor of Sevenoaks

Sevenoaks is such a welcoming town. It welcomed me and my family when we arrived 42 years ago. And as Mayor this year, I’ve been welcomed by so many local organisations.

It has been humbling to meet hundreds of Sevenoaks citizens giving time to care for others, supporting neighbours, working in care homes and with young people, keeping us safe, improving our town, safeguarding its heritage and caring for the nature all round us. A huge thank you to all of you from everyone at the Town Council. We could not do what we do without you.

And thanks from me to the whole Town Council team. Special thanks to the Open Spaces staff who helped win awards at Britain in Bloom, those who look after our community hall and station at Bat & Ball, which are so popular, to our officers who have organised the Town finances to support exciting new initiatives including a new Greatness Pavilion and a community minibus, and to our planning team for a brilliant submission to protect Sevenoaks in the Local Plan.

Thanks also to my Councillor colleagues who have supported me in the last six months and stepped in for events my wife and I couldn’t make.

All of us in Local Government live in uncertain times. But one thing you can be sure of is that Sevenoaks Town Council will continue whatever happens. We will be here to support the amazing people who make Sevenoaks flourish.

On behalf of the whole Town Council, I wish all the very best for you and your family throughout 2026.

Cllr Tony Clayton
Mayor of Sevenoaks
