We were delighted to celebrate two Sevenoaks students, Willow and Bonnie, who received RHS Britain in Bloom Young Champion Awards for their fantastic contributions to Sevenoaks in Bloom.

The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Cllr Tony Clayton, and Chair of Sevenoaks in Bloom, Cllr Dr Merilyn Canet, visited Weald of Kent Grammar School and Lady Boswell’s to present their awards.

Willow supported Sevenoaks in Bloom by crocheting two beautifully crafted toppers for post boxes in Sevenoaks inspired by this year’s Sevenoaks in Bloom theme, ‘Celebrating Bugs’.

Bonnie earned her Young Champion Award by organising a sponsored litter pick to raise money for flowers, which she then planted at The Vine. She did this with her friend Emma, who was also thanked by the Mayor at Lady Boswell’s school assembly.

The Sevenoaks in Bloom team will be seeking more volunteers to help with gardening and crafts next year and welcomes anyone who would like to get involved. For more information, email [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who took the time to create a design for our Christmas Light Competition. We received a fantastic array of creative artwork from talented young people aged 11 and under.

Shops around Sevenoaks are displaying these designs in their windows, so look out for them!

The winning drawing is being transformed into a Christmas light, which will be displayed behind the Stag, along with our 2024 winner.

We will announce the 2025 and 2024 winners soon, so keep an eye out on our socials.

Thank you to Knocker & Foskett, well as the Youth Services Committee, for sponsoring this initiative.

Congratulations to all the winners of the Sevenoaks Business Awards 2025!

On Friday, Sevenoaks Town Team hosted the awards evening at Bat & Ball Centre. This fantastic event shone a spotlight on the outstanding businesses that contribute to Sevenoaks.

This year’s winners showcased the very best of local enterprise:

• Independent Business sponsored by Berry & Lamberts Solicitors: Happy Tails

• Larger Business sponsored by Thackray Williams Solicitors: Rockdale Village

• Sustainability in Business sponsored by Sevenoaks Chamber of Commerce: Frank's Barbers Riverhead

• Health & Wellness sponsored by Sevenoaks Town Council: Bluebird Care Sevenoaks

• New Business sponsored by Knocker & Foskett: Eleanor Clark Choreography and Miles Martial Arts (joint winners)

• Customer Choice sponsored by Specsavers: Happy Tails (387 of 2,760 votes)

• Judges’ Choice sponsored by Warners Solicitors: Jamie Alexander Wilson (Sevenoaks Panto writer, producer and performer)

At the event, guests enjoyed a lively evening of entertainment including a behind-the-scenes look at the hugely successful Sevenoaks pantomime from writer, producer and performer Jamie Alexander Wilson. Star quizzer Jenny Ryan (“The Vixen” from ITV’s The Chase) also captivated the room with her inspiring story, while magician Bob Pound kept everyone spellbound throughout the night.

To round off the evening, a charity raffle raised an impressive £815 for the Mayor’s charities, Citizens Advice and Sevenoaks Area Youth Trust – a fitting finish to a night celebrating excellence, community and the remarkable businesses that power Sevenoaks.

In the Mayor's latest blog, he talks about Remembrance events at Rochester Cathedral, The Vine and Greatness Cemetery.

On Tuesday, the Mayor placed crosses on the war graves at Greatness Cemetery. In his blog he writes, "Recognising each individual one by one was a moving experience. Because of Sevenoaks' position in the Battle of Britain, many of the fallen are from the RAF. What I wasn’t prepared for is how many were in their 20s."
