This month’s red_light_sessions is a real jaw-dropper! 😱🤠🎸

Recorded at The Foundry Studio on Brown Street, Lauren Housley & The Northern Cowboys – with a little help from her friends – knocked this cover of a Joe Cocker classic out of the park, while equally smashing their original tracks in one take.

A couple of days later, we met up at their Northern Cowboy Films studio space at Yellow Arch Studios to talk about the long road from Rotherham to Nashville, Muscle Shoals and back to Sheffield.

Splash Art Republic has opened on Arundel Street, offering three different ways to unleash your inner Po***ck: splashing, spinning or pouring paint to create something to take home with you 🎨

No artistic ability required. In fact, going in with absolutely no idea what you’re doing seems very much part of the fun.

They provide the paint, ponchos and protective gear. You provide the questionable artistic vision.

This year marks 30 years of Abbeydale Brewery – and over the last couple of months, we’ve been doing our best to work our way through the full Abbeydale experience. 🍺

First up was a trip to the brewery on Aizlewood Road, followed by a few jars at their shiny new Beerworks taproom. This time, we headed out to Fulwood to complete the hoppy holy trinity with a visit to The Rising Sun Inn 🌅.

And there was another very good reason to get ourselves over to S10. Former Juke & Loe co-owner Joe Grayson is now heading up the kitchen, bringing a bit of that restaurant pedigree to a menu that still knows exactly what people want from a proper pub tea.

Naturally, we went to investigate. Tough gig, etc. 🍽️🍺
