Do It Thissen / West Riding Records Do It Thissen / West Riding Records is based in Sheffield, UK and supports the local independent/DIY music scene of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

"Do It Thissen" is Yorkshire dialect for "Do It Yourself" (DIY)

It was also the name of a 9-day long exhibition/event of September 2012 as part of the University of Sheffield's "Festival of the Mind" and which was curated by Dr Matthew Cheeseman and Jon Downing

The exhibition focused on the DIY/independent music scene which flourished in Sheffield and South Yorkshire during the years 1978 - 1982



Do It Thissen Records was formed in 2018 to support the DIY/independent music scene by releasing small runs of pressed vinyl & lathe-cut singles, EPs and LPs by local artists

DIMITRI is an ex-nightclub owner and reformed businessman based in South Yorkshire, just off the M1, Britain's premiere highway. Now, more concerned with deeper questions than 'who sold my nightclub?', DIMITRI Himself returns with a humanly sincere and philosophical electronic sound.

It's Bandcamp Friday" ...

Our Bandcamp shop is open and stocked with our latest release DIT-078 "Do You Remember Christmas" by The Voltz available in a picture disc and standard black edition.

Most of the total edition of 50 is in the shop right now, but I've hung on to a few copies to add in at 2000 (UK time) this evening for those who were unable to get to the shop first thing this morning.

Having said that, the initial allocation of picture discs flew straight out!

OK, here’s all you need to know about our offering for December:
DIT-078 “Do You Remember Christmas”/”Over And Done” by The Voltz.

Glam/powerpop lathe cut 7” single released in time for the festive season. Available in two variants: BLACK (edition of 40) and PICTURE DISC (edition of 10)

Both come in a colour sleeve with a double-side colour insert and download code, all inside a protective polythene outer sleeve.

The records were cut by Ben at Plastidisc, and assembled in Sheffield.

The black version is cut on 2mm blanks, the picture disc is made up of 2 x single sided 1mm clear blank cuts with festive ‘sequins’ sandwiched between the two and glued together. To my ears, there are a few crackles and pops on the picture disc, most likely due to lots of sprayed glue particles flying around whilst assembling the picture disc and much handling of the blanks while assembling them. I’ve cleaned & tested all copies, they play right through OK and so should be fine as long as you don’t have expectations of audiophile hifi sound.

The whole edition of 50 (less the band’s allocation) will hit the Do It Thissen Bandcamp shop at 0800 UK time on Friday 5th December, and I’ll start to ship out all orders straight away. I’ll hold a few copies back and add to the shop at 2000 UK time to give everyone a fair chance of acquiring a copy. Constructed by sandwiching 30 festive ‘sequins’ between the 2 x 1mm single-sided track clear blanks
