A few weeks ago, author & broadcaster (to name but two strings to his bow), Simon Strong dropped by at Do It Thissen Towers for a chat about the Sheffield music scene and Do It Thissen Records releases.

Our conversation was recorded for broadcast on a show which Simon co-hosts back in Australia (The Planet X show on 3CR Radio). Oh, and we played a few records.

UPDATE: DIT-074 "The Spiral" 10" EP (Richard Hardcastle & David Thompson)

Those of you who've ordered a copy of this release will have noticed that it's not yet landed on your doormat...

The release hasn't been successfully cut yet: I fitted a brand new cutting diamond and recalibrated the lathe and made a few test cuts - however, I'm not satisfied with the audio quality at the moment - there are a number of technical areas I'm pursuing to improve and re-cut, and I'll let you know when I've successfully made cuts that I'm happy to release.

There's some good news though - in the meantime, Richard has discovered a new copy of his original tape which was in better condition than the one which was originally used as the basis for the test lathe-cuts. This new version has been digitised, and it'll be this new version I'll be using to produce the release.

Also, Richard has turned up a track of beats which he'd created at the same time as recording "The Spiral" - he's edited this down so that we can include it as a bonus track on the release.

On top of all this, the single-sided insert which was to be included with the release has now been expanded to an 8-page booklet with the full story behind the tracks.

Thank you to all who jumped in and made a purchase of one or other or both of our new releases yesterday ( Friday)

The entire edition of DIT-074 "The Spiral" 10" by Richard Hardcastle & David Thompson is sold out, as has the RED version of The Bat Creeps 7" "Filthy Wheel". There are a very few copies of the BLACK version of "Filthy Wheel" left, which are available to order from the Bandcamp shop right now.

Any orders for just The Bat Creeps record will be sent out after the Bank Holiday, and for orders which contained "The Spiral", I'll be cutting these and sending them out over the next few weeks.

OK, the first tranches of DIT-074 Richard Hardcastle & David Thompson and DIT-066 (Red) The Bat Creeps have sold out - there are a few DIT-066 (Black) still on the shelves ... but I'll be back at 2000 UK time this evening to add a few more of each release to the Bandcamp shop - then that's it, when they're gone, they're gone

Happy Bandcamp Friday!

Our shop is now stocked with DIT-066 The Bat Creeps 7" lathe-cut (black & red editions), and DIT-074 Richard Hardcastle & David Thompson 10" lathe-cut (pre-order).

I've held a few copies back, and will replenish the shop at 2000 UK time.

Due to an administrative error, a few test cuts of The Bat Creeps record were made on DJ-style blanks: one on white, one on black, and one on clear. I've given the band the white copy, the label is hanging on to the black copy, and the clear copy will be given away free to one lucky customer who places an order for the Bat Creeps single on Bandcamp Friday (only one entry to the draw per customer). I'll make the draw at random on Saturday morning and announce the winner on our FB page.
