As Men’s Mental Health Month is coming to a close, it’s worth remembering that the need for support doesn’t end here.

Often the first step is simply reaching out to the people already around us. A quick message to a friend, a quiet conversation with a colleague, or a moment of honesty with a family member can open the door to support. Those small connections can make a difficult time feel a little less heavy.

And if grief feels overwhelming or difficult to talk about, there are also organisations ready to help:

CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) – 0800 58 58 58 | thecalmzone.net
Mind – mind.org.uk
Mental Health UK (Men’s Mental Health) – mentalhealth-uk.org/mens-mental-health
Movember – uk.movember.com
Cruse Bereavement Support – 0808 808 1677 | cruse.org.uk

Whether you reach out to someone close to you or speak to a professional, you don’t have to carry loss on your own.

Every life is unique, and the way you choose to remember someone can be too.

Many people find comfort in sharing photos during a funeral or celebration of life. A tribute can be simple, or it can be shaped in a way that reflects someone’s personality, passions, or the memories you treasure most.

Our Themed Tributes are designed to help you do just that. From gentle florals to warm golden tones, to designs that feel like leafing through a cherished photo album, each theme creates a meaningful backdrop for your loved one’s story.

You can explore all the available themes here: https://www2.obitus.com/themed-tributes

If you’re planning a service and wondering what might feel right, your funeral director can guide you through every option.

Whether the departed possessed a creative flair, was an animal lover, or enjoyed time in the garden, the Themed Tribute brings an added layer of personalisation.

Today, on International Men’s Day and during Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re reminded that many men carry grief quietly, feeling pressure to stay strong, hold things together, or protect the people around them. Research shows that men often express grief differently, so small acts of support can make a big difference.

Check in. Listen without trying to fix. Lighten the load where you can. And keep showing up long after the funeral is over.

Everyone grieves in their own way, but no one should have to grieve alone

Remembrance is at the heart of who we are.

Today, we pause in gratitude and reflection, remembering those who served, those who sacrificed, and those who continue to carry their stories. Their courage and legacy live on in the memories we hold and the moments we honour together.

Lest we forget.

A farewell can happen anywhere that feels right

A funeral doesn’t have to take place inside a crematorium or chapel. It can happen wherever feels most meaningful; in a garden, a woodland, a favourite park, at home, or beside the grave of someone you love.

What matters most is creating a moment that reflects the person’s life and the people who knew them best. Some families find comfort in familiar traditions, while others choose a setting that feels more personal or connected to nature. Wherever it happens, a farewell can still include all the same special touches including the music that brings back loving memories and reflects a life well lived. It’s about shaping a space that feels right for you and those you love.

If you’re considering something a little different, speak to your funeral arranger about the options available and how they can help you plan a service that feels just right.

Every goodbye is unique, and every place can hold a memory.

What’s your Memory Mixtape?!

We all have songs that take us back, a few notes, and suddenly we’re in a moment that mattered.

Our Memory Mixtape series celebrates the connection between music and memory. It’s a chance for the Obitus team to share the songs that tell their stories and remind us how powerfully music can shape who we are.

For Andy, each track marks a chapter in his life. Pump up the Jam by Technotronic takes him back to long walks home after nights with school friends, his Walkman playing the soundtrack of his youth. Jerusalema by Master KG brings memories of his daughter’s wedding in Jamaica — sunshine, dancing, and the joy of seeing his family so happy. Times Like These by Foo Fighters reflects resilience and optimism, a reminder that even after tough times, life moves forward. And Scar Tissue by Red Hot Chili Peppers is the song that never fades, still giving him goosebumps every time.

What songs would be on your Memory Mixtape?

November marks Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month and we’re taking a moment to remind ourselves that Men Grieve Too.

According to research, 80% of men say they feel alone in their grief.

Grief isn't a weakness. It’s love trying to find somewhere to go. This month, we want to spread a clear message that men do not need to grieve alone. We encourage open conversations about loss, love, and the courage it takes to talk about how we feel. Whether it’s a friend, family, or a charity, talking about grief can ease the weight a little.

You don’t have to carry it alone.

Please share this post to spread awareness and solidarity
