I couldn’t imagine that one day I would actually stand here and experience this in real life.

A place that has been a mosque… then a church… then a museum… and now again a mosque history doesn’t just live here, it breathes.

The moment you walk in, that massive stone structure makes you stop.
You just look up and think… how is this even possible?

Even with construction work going on, even with parts being restored, the presence of this place is still overwhelming.
That dome… one of the largest in the world… still standing strong after centuries.

The architecture, the artwork, the detail it’s unmatched.
There’s something about it that words can’t fully explain.

You don’t just visit this place… you feel it.
And honestly, it leaves you in awe 🤍

The Hagia Sophia was originally built in 537 AD during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I.

For nearly 900 years, it served as the world’s largest cathedral and one of the greatest achievements of Byzantine architecture.

In 1453, after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople by Sultan Mehmed II, it was converted into a mosque and remained so for almost 500 years.

In 1935, it was turned into a museum by the Turkish Republic.

Then in 2020, it was officially reconverted into a mosque again.

Its massive dome was an engineering marvel of its time and influenced architecture for centuries across both Europe and the Islamic world.
