🎭 Tonight! 7pm @ The Loading Bay, Bradford — join us for 75 minutes of pure heart, at Life Class!

We’re blending joy, truth and surprises as we explore what it feels like to grow older — the body changes, the memories, the hopes and the stories.

Expect:

A chorus of 30 local older people joining 6 professional actors & musicians, sharing songs, stories and movement.

Book & Lyrics by Alan Dix + Mike Kenny, music by Richard Taylor

A show directed by Alan Dix, with top-tier design, lighting & projection to bring the experience alive

This isn’t a quiet reflection — it’s bold, warm, funny and profoundly human. It’s older people celebrating themselves, showing off their best bits.

Bring your energy, bring your curiosity, bring your friends — make your Friday night something to remember. 💥

Thank you The Reviews Hub for the Life Class review 😀 we particularly like this bit:

"Life Class is perfectly integrated, with Alan Dix’s script matter of fact and making its impact through telling repetitions and Taylor’s music and Paul Slater’s projections ever-present reinforcements of the theme of recognition of the quality of old age"

509 Arts

Founded by theatre maker Alan Dix and based in Bradford, 509 Arts has worked for over 25 years as both a production and consultancy company. It aims to create inspiring and accessible routes for communities and artists through exemplary productions that are relevant to their experiences and life stories. Programmes that have access, participation and engagement at their core frame much of the company’s work.

Since 2011, 509 Arts has often used testimony to shape creative thinking about subjects that resonate: My Last Car (‘car love meets climate change’) for the Cultural Olympiad, Bike Story (‘life on two wheels’) for the Tour de France Grand Depart (11 outdoor locations, audiences of 2,500) and Landlines & Watermarks (‘a landscape and people shaped by water’) in response to the Calderdale floods.

509 Arts is deeply committed to producing work in Yorkshire and the North of England to create projects that capture the public imagination and uses the very best teams to make this happen.

Our latest project is Bradford Revealed, every object tells a story and Bradford Revealed is a way of telling Bradford’s story. Together we will build a very special online gallery with pictures and stories about your precious objects. Every one of them will be submitted by people with a connection to Bradford. Our online exhibition Bradford Revealed will be live from the beginning of July and is created in partnership with Bradford Museums and Galleries and Bradford2025.
