Pumpkinfest Takes Over Park Hall Farm This October

Thousands of pumpkins are heading to Oswestry this October as Park Hall Countryside Experience prepares for the return of its annual Pumpkinfest.

3,500 pumpkins will arrive at the farm ready for families to choose, carve and take home during selected dates through October.

The team behind Shropshire Petal Fields has announced an evening opening on Wednesday, August 12th, giving visitors the chance to watch the partial solar eclipse from the flower field.

This Wednesday’s eclipse is expected to begin at approximately 6.14pm in Newport, reach maximum eclipse at 7.11pm, and end at 8.05pm.

On August 12th, in addition to the morning and afternoon sessions, you can book onto an evening slot from 5pm – 8pm to enjoy the eclipse. If you have tickets booked earlier in the day, you can move your tickets to the evening session. Dogs are also permitted to attend on August 12th.

Leading charity puts on family open day at Shropshire centre.

The Field Studies Council is hosting a family open day – offering visitors the chance to immerse themselves in wildlife and nature.

Taking place on August 20 from 10am to 5pm, people will be able to explore the site and experience a range of activities from pond dipping, orienteering and bushcraft and climbing.

Time to dance around the flowers ahead of Shropshire Petal Fields opening to the public.

In collaboration with Shropshire Festivals Pop in the Petals: ABBA Night will take place on Friday 31 July while Proms in the Petals: Films & Musicals Edition will take place on Saturday 1 August.

Shropshire Petal Fields in Newport is due to be open from August 7th – 16th. Visitors can wander through a flower field of delphiniums, cornflowers, sunflowers, and wildflowers, and explore the woodland next to a tranquil pool.

Baby Boom in Time for Summer at Exotic Zoo!

A surprise baby boom is delighting keepers at Exotic Zoo in Telford with new arrivals appearing across the attraction just in time for the summer holidays.

Visitors to the award-winning zoo in Telford Town Park can now spot everything from baby Patagonian maras and a tiny genet to a young wallaby and playful baby goats, alongside newly hatched critically endangered Black Beauty stick insects and Casque-headed iguanas.

Park Hall Countryside Experience in Oswestry has been able to keep ticket prices low this summer thanks to the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative.

The park confirmed it was able to be part of the scheme temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on qualifying family tickets and attractions.

They have also relaunched their Summer Pass. For £24 per person, Summer Pass holders can visit Park Hall an unlimited number of times between July 13th and August 31st, 2026, saving money from a second visit onwards.

Tickets have gone live for Shropshire Petal Fields, which returns to Newport this summer from August 6th to 16th.

The spectacular flower field invites visitors to wander through different layers of colour with delphiniums, cornflowers, sunflowers, and wildflowers.

There is a woodland area to explore to add some variety for families, and this year it takes in a picturesque lake.

A phone-free area is being introduced in the field to create a moment of mindfulness as well as morning yoga sessions.

Proms and Pop Events Launch Ahead of Shropshire Petal Fields.

The organisers behind Shropshire Petal Fields have announced two brand new music events which will be staged within their picturesque flower field event space ahead of the festival opening.

On Friday, July 31st, there will be an ABBA tribute night for Pop in the Petals with sought-after tribute act ABBASensation.

Proms in the Petals: Films & Musicals Edition will take place on Saturday, August 1st featuring a 50-piece orchestra led by conductor Bedwyn Phillips.
