SMP01VL01105 is now officially in production! 100 black vinyl, 100 transparent NEON Green vinyl, will be Earthbound & entering the atmosphere around the end of September! But firstly, there will be a tiny batch of TEST PRESSINGS materialising in the SMP offices in less than a month's time - so watch the shop on skidmark.org around then as a handful will be going up for sale, (and I won't be advertising the fact - it'll be first come, first served....!!).

SMP01CD02914 & SMP01CS00706 CD & Cassette variants will also be ready for launch at the beginning of October. 👍

It's been a busy few weeks here at SkidMark Central as things ramp up to the peak of festival season this month, along wih having new releases in the pipeline.

Also, been busy expanding the website, and the first monthly edition of the site since 2011 is now up. (albeit a few days late!).

Check out the FEATURED ARTIST OF THE MONTH spread for Lords of Form now up including: LoF signed merch in this month's competition, a new FAOTM page with an interesting raft of trivia about every member of the band, and coming later this month, there will be a 'VIRTUAL INTERVIEW' via messenger services with band leader, Niall Hone! PLUS the first album review since 2010 in the 'Albums & Singles' section!

And... over the next few weeks I will be populating new features such as the 'Festival & Gigs Review' section, (September will see reviews of three festivals) - if you want to get involved and contribute reviews, get in touch via the site contact page.

We've got two prizes to give away in this month's competition, and if you like it loud & heavy, then this is the competition for you!

Up for grabs are a first prize of a PAIR of WEEKEND TICKETS to MEARFEST, one of the best independent NWOBHM festivals in the country, held at the fabulous QUEEN'S HALL, Nuneaton on the weekend of 21st / 22nd August, PLUS a PAIR of SIGNED 7" Incubus Lovechild picture discs (he'll be performing on the Saturday).

Second prize is a PAIR of SATURDAY TICKETS to MEARFEST, PLUS a PAIR of SIGNED 7" Incubus Lovechild picture discs also!

Due to a busy start to the year coinciding with a number of anniversaries in the same month of March, the 25th anniversary of the launch of SkidMark Multimedia Productions as a monthly magazine style web site for the promotion of independent music, quietly passed by....

As of this month, I've finally begun the revamp of the site with the introduction of a number of new pages including SMP artist pages, and a NEW monthly competition page! Yes, finally after 14 years away, the monthly competition page is back!! And SMP has a fabulous couple of prizes packages for you to win - First prize is a PAIR of WEEKEND TICKETS with a second prize of a PAIR of SATURDAY DAY TICKETS for the AWESOME NWOBHM festival, MEARFEST!!

This two day festival celebrating some of the best original & upcoming NWOBHM bands is held in August at the fantastic Queen's Hall venue in Nuneaton.

Full details are on the competition page over at skidmark.org - Check the new pages out and come back regularly as I roll out other resurrected monthly features such as the FEATURED ARTIST OF THE MONTH (FAOTM) page, VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS with the bands using internet messenger services & the ALBUMS REVIEW pages for just a start!

Thank you to all the bands and solo artists who have supported me over the past 25 years, many are sadly no more, but others are still thriving and have remained firm friends via social media - It's been a privilege and I've enjoyed the ride!

Also, a big shout out to Jerry Bumpskey over at The Bumpskey Show, who in 2001 inspired me to launch SkidMark as a 'sister site' to his then cutting edge webcast daily radio show, (Still running today on Youtube!)- If I'd never heard the great independent bands being played over on Bumpskey, SMP would not exist - thank you brother - you ROCK!!

I was proper chuffed to receive the biggest single order out of the US to date yesterday that is now packaged on it's way across the pond as of this morning! I don't celebrate the monetary gain of the order, (although it is nice recouping a crumb of the investments I've made so far!), I'm much, much happier that there is one more human being out there who is now going to enjoy the music I have so much faith in -absolute bangers by Sons of Mu, Lords of Form, Nigel Potter & even some of my own offerings!

I feel guilty sometimes that I don't have the time available to push the releases harder as I'm juggling two businesses (but, one feeds into the other), as I was truly blessed that in my first year as a label I got to release such outstanding albums by some epic bands. Do you own any SkidMark releases on Vinyl, CD or Cassette? Do you enjoy them as much as I do? If so, then you can help SMP promote the epic space rock artists who's art I have been privileged to work with and capture on vinyl, Polycarbonate disc & Ferrous Oxide tape!

All you need to do is post a picture on your social media feed of one or all of your favourite SMP releases, (optionally) saying what you like about it / them, thus allowing your friend list to be exposed to some premium space rock & psychedelia!

Word of mouth is the best advertising there is, so, if you want to help a small independent label spread the love for bands such as those on the SMP roster, then help a friend out and post away!!
