Due to a busy start to the year coinciding with a number of anniversaries in the same month of March, the 25th anniversary of the launch of SkidMark Multimedia Productions as a monthly magazine style web site for the promotion of independent music, quietly passed by....

As of this month, I've finally begun the revamp of the site with the introduction of a number of new pages including SMP artist pages, and a NEW monthly competition page! Yes, finally after 14 years away, the monthly competition page is back!! And SMP has a fabulous couple of prizes packages for you to win - First prize is a PAIR of WEEKEND TICKETS with a second prize of a PAIR of SATURDAY DAY TICKETS for the AWESOME NWOBHM festival, MEARFEST!!

This two day festival celebrating some of the best original & upcoming NWOBHM bands is held in August at the fantastic Queen's Hall venue in Nuneaton.

Thank you to all the bands and solo artists who have supported me over the past 25 years, many are sadly no more, but others are still thriving and have remained firm friends via social media - It's been a privilege and I've enjoyed the ride!

Also, a big shout out to Jerry Bumpskey over at The Bumpskey Show, who in 2001 inspired me to launch SkidMark as a 'sister site' to his then cutting edge webcast daily radio show, (Still running today on Youtube!)- If I'd never heard the great independent bands being played over on Bumpskey, SMP would not exist - thank you brother - you ROCK!!

Another nice little job complete - an ultra exclusive run of lathe cut 7" singles in the beautifully named 'Translucent Mermaid' colour change vinyl for my good friends at Tubeway Records - they look sweeeet!!

I was proper chuffed to receive the biggest single order out of the US to date yesterday that is now packaged on it's way across the pond as of this morning! I don't celebrate the monetary gain of the order, (although it is nice recouping a crumb of the investments I've made so far!), I'm much, much happier that there is one more human being out there who is now going to enjoy the music I have so much faith in -absolute bangers by Sons of Mu, Lords of Form, Nigel Potter & even some of my own offerings!

I feel guilty sometimes that I don't have the time available to push the releases harder as I'm juggling two businesses (but, one feeds into the other), as I was truly blessed that in my first year as a label I got to release such outstanding albums by some epic bands. Do you own any SkidMark releases on Vinyl, CD or Cassette? Do you enjoy them as much as I do? If so, then you can help SMP promote the epic space rock artists who's art I have been privileged to work with and capture on vinyl, Polycarbonate disc & Ferrous Oxide tape!

All you need to do is post a picture on your social media feed of one or all of your favourite SMP releases, (optionally) saying what you like about it / them, thus allowing your friend list to be exposed to some premium space rock & psychedelia!

Word of mouth is the best advertising there is, so, if you want to help a small independent label spread the love for bands such as those on the SMP roster, then help a friend out and post away!!

BACK IN STOCK! I've had a fresh delivery of Alan Davey's excellent solo album 'Electrum' in both CD & vinyl format from our trading partner, Savant Guarde Records in the US. This batch contains also TEN SIGNED copies of the vinyl (two have already gone!!).

Congratulations to Lords of Form for obtaining No.1 in the Bandcamp Space Rock charts (globally & UK charts!) & Incubus Lovechild for hitting the No.3 spot on the UK charts - it's gratifying to see bands supported / released by SMP having some success - It has always been and always will be, about promoting / getting the music out there, here at SkidMark!
