Now dwarfed amongst the imposing metropolis of modern London, Lesnes Abbey in Abbey Wood, gives a hint of the ancient history of the area amongst the remains of a once-flourishing abbey. Founded in 1178 during the reign of King Henry II. The abbey, like so many monastic establishments throughout England, was dissolved and demolished mainly during the reign of King Henry VIII in 1536, an act of unjustifiable vandalism in my opinion.

The Lobby
Eltham Palace, London, UK

Eltham Palace began originally as a medieval bishops palace, although The Great Hall is the only surviving part which was incorporated into a modern art deco home in 1930s by Stephen & Virginia Courtauld who had made their fortune in textiles. The Lobby has featured in many television dramas most notably, The Crown.
