Cut to today and our membership platform is officially live!! (AND so is our podcast)

Sam Fuszard has been working so incredibly hard making sure the platform is user friendly and I'm so proud of what he has achieved 👏

One of my favourite things about what I do is working with businesses in industries that, on the surface, don’t feel like they’d suit social media.

Take a fire alarm specialist, for example. They thought they had nothing interesting to share.

But here’s the thing: people don’t just buy what you do, they buy why you do it and the trust they feel in you.

When we started working together, the goal was clear:

✅ Build brand awareness in a competitive market
✅ Showcase credibility and expertise
✅ Position the business as approachable and trustworthy

I introduced a tailored content plan, mixing:

👉 Educational posts breaking down fire safety regs into simple, practical advice
👉 Behind-the-scenes insights to humanise the brand
👉 Client stories to demonstrate trust and results

Within just a few months, they saw:

📈 Increased engagement on LinkedIn from key referral partners
💬 More inbound enquiries directly from content
🤝 Stronger connections with local contractors and developers

This October I'm swapping chasing waterfalls for hiking the Kent Downs for the Heart of Kent Hospice 🚶‍♀️‍➡️

I'll be hiking 50km to raise money for this fantastic charity.

My kind of networking 🌅

I joined Kent Kinnections for their second Pints and Prosecco last week 🥂

Medway businesses are changing the way networking is done and I’m here for it 🙌

Since I’ve stopped prioritising events that didn’t feel like me I’ve made some incredible connections and even friends along the way.

My final throwback of the week!

Who remembers wearing these masks all day... even worse when you had to double up with a visor 🫠

As the Assistant Multibrand Manager for the The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. I was responsible for using the counter's social media accounts to draw more footfall into the store.

I covered Tom Ford Beauty, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Aveda and Bobbi Brown.

And it was so much fun!!

Sometimes I miss working alongside a big team everyday and being in house.

Social media marketing is all about your goal and your strategy. For this project it was getting people into store, for your business it might be more website traffic or more calls.

Which is why your approach has to be unique to you and your business.

I’ve shared before how I used to be a hair colourist…

But what I don’t often talk about is how I made it work.

To fund myself through my apprenticeship, I trained in beauty treatments so I could work evenings and days off (because the £500 a month I got from my apprenticeship didn’t stretch very far).

Any extra time I had? I’d pick up shifts in the local village pub.

I was shattered all the time. But I was working towards something, so it was worth it.

These days, I don’t work 7 days a week anymore.

But that same drive, the one that kept me going back then is exactly what I’ve brought into my business now.

It’s why I’m so dedicated to supporting my clients.

Because I’ve grinded, I know what it takes... and I know that some days you feel like sacking it all off.

Outsourcing can feel scary, but what value would offloading your marketing tasks do to your day? How many hours would that free up a week for you?

The power of UGC (User Generated Content) 📸

When I started The Rookie CEO, I had no budget...zero.

But I knew if I wanted to create a buzz, I had to think smarter, not harder.

I needed a way to generate marketing assets without splashing out on photoshoots…

So, enter the now infamous selfie frame.

Simple, low-cost, and instantly shareable.

Every time someone took a photo and posted it, it became free promotion for the club, straight from the people who were loving the experience.

Lesson? If you want to spread the word, make it easy and fun for your audience to create content for you.

I used to be a pretty good hairdresser.

In what feels like a past life I was a hair colourist based in Piccadilly Circus, painting beautiful heads of hair.

And now you’re probably thinking … ok but why is this relevant?

Here’s why:

As a hair stylist it was my job to make my clients feel great and build a strong connection with them.

And that really is what a great social media presence can do

If you can learn to understand your audience, you can understand what they are looking for.

Just like as a hairdresser, it’s about reading between the lines on what they really want VS the unrealistic Pinterest photo they are showing you of Hailey Bieber...

Says the company with a huge marketing budget...

When you are a smaller business, getting your face recognised is a huge benefit to building your brand awareness.

And sometimes, you just don't have an endless supply of professional photos lined up.

Sometimes the candid posts that you thought off the top of your head accompanied by a quick photo will perform better than your carefully curated posts.

There's no right or wrong for your marketing.

If it matches your brand and your tone of voice, then roll with it!

Why are people sharing personal content on linked in… this isn’t Facebook.

Well my friend, that’s because they’re successfully building their personal brand.

Ever noticed that slightly more personal content about your team, your business highs and lows always perform better?

That’s because you’re showing a glimpse of the people behind the business, which people are much more likely to engage with.

Increased engagement in general = Increased eyes on your sales content
