What began in January with an enjoyable and very relaxed (and fun!) day continued last week with another wonderful session of The Box Stompin' Boys recording at Rimshot.

Pic from a recent session with an incredible group. The was used as a mic, with the on and the other on . Drums were in the booth.

A huge part of the mix sound came from the piano mics, so much so that for any overdubs or fixes, we recorded the piano mics along with all the horn mics; lots of tracks on mix down but the"air" in the room was maintained.

The other thing that was important to the sound of this record were the mic press and EQs... the transformers and valves add a beautiful and subtle compression to the horn mics and drum overheads... vibes :-)

I can't wait to share this album when it's released later in the year!

He knows Rimshot inside out and genuinely loves the space.
