I had a great time catching up with Karl and having a nose around new office this morning! So much space right in the centre of Maidstone, and exciting plans for their future. Looking forward to the collaboration potential 🀝

Also - I wasn't going to post this photo, because I don't particularly like how I look, but I'm all about authenticity, so here you go! Not sure any angle would have got both of us in properly - I'll wear heels next time πŸ˜‚

πŸ€” Social Media Myth: You need to post every day to be successful.

✨ The Reality: Consistency matters more than frequency, and quality always beats quantity.

This myth is particularly harmful for small business owners and solopreneurs who are already stretched thin; I see so many entrepreneurs burning themselves out trying to post daily content that adds no real value.

Here's what actually works:
- Choose a posting schedule you can realistically maintain. Whether that's three times a week or once a week, stick to it.
- Focus on creating content that genuinely helps your audience. One helpful post per week will outperform seven throwaway posts every time.
- Engage meaningfully with your community. Responding thoughtfully to comments and supporting other local businesses often generates more leads than posting daily.

As someone who juggles running a business with caring responsibilities, I can tell you that sustainable beats intensive every time.

Your social media strategy needs to work with your life, not against it.

What social media "rule" have you been following that's actually making your life harder? Let me know in the comments.

πŸŽ™οΈ My latest guest on Crescent Podcast is Kate from Hair Therapy , and in the episode, we discuss Kate's career in Trichology.

It may sound rather niche, and I suppose it is, but learning about what Trichology is, how it can affect people and how Kate helps her clients, was genuinely fascinating.

Out next Friday, make sure you don't miss this episode πŸŽ™οΈ

The Crescent Podcast is sponsored by Purple Frog Signs in Kent.

Next Wednesday I'll be at the Digital Women Women Awards and I can't wait!

It is going to be a fantastic day, surrounded by the fabulous community of truly inspirational women (and a few men - my husband's coming with me!), celebrating ourselves and our businesses.

I'm a Finalist for Digital Carer of the Year, and whilst I truly have no expectation of actually winning the award, it means so much to just be amongst the Finalists!

If you want to find out how I juggle my business with being a full-time Carer, please check out my recent blog post discussing exactly that. The link is in my comments πŸ‘‡

Image Description - a purple background with the face of a woman with short blonde hair smiling at the camera. Along the top of the image in yellow is the word 'Finalist', and below that in purple is 'Carer - Lucy Jessey'. At the bottom of the image is the wording 'Digital Women Awards 2025'.

Accessible content - what's that?!

With over 16 million people in the UK living with disabilities, making your online content accessible can massively affect your reach and ensure that your message resonates with everyone.

Scroll through if you want to find out how easy it is to connect with your entire audience πŸ‘‡ or read my blog-post all about online accessibility.

Image Descriptions - each slide features the following wording:
1. How to make your online content accessible
2. Use plain language. Write in clear, straightforward sentences. Define technical terms where necessary. Break up long paragraphs. Use an active voice.
3. Format for readability. Use proper headings and subheadings. Create bulleted/numbered lists for easy scanning. Keep paragraphs short and focused. Choose readable fonts.
4. Master alt text. Be concise but descriptive (125 characters or fewer). Include key information from the image. Don't start with 'Image of...'. Use empty alt text for decorative images.
5. Make infographics accessible. Provide information in alternative forms (text/table). Use high contrast colours. Keep designs clean and uncluttered. Don't rely on colour alone to convey information.
6. Video captions and audio. 85% of Facebook users watch videos without sound. Include accurate synchronised captions. Consider audio descriptions for visual elements. Always edit auto-captions for accuracy.
7. Hashtag best practices. Use CamelCase - not . Capitalise the first letter of each word. It makes hashtags readable for screen readers. And avoids awkward mis-readings!
8. Emoji guidelines. Use emojis sparingly and purposefully. Don't substitute important words with emojis. Avoid multiple similar emojis in sequence. Place emojis at the end of your content.
9. Creating accessible online content isn't just about being a better communicator...
10. ...it ensures your content is inclusive and accessible to everyone.
