We’re pleased to introduce our updated Reg 35 reports for young people. These reports help us monitor the care we provide and identify what’s working well, along with areas where we can improve. Now, for the first time, we’ve created a version of these reports specifically designed for young people to access and understand.

The first edition covers October to December 2024 and gives young people a clear overview of the care and support they received during that period. Our aim is to increase transparency and help young people feel more involved and informed about their journey.

Much like how foster parent lunches and supervisions support carers, we hope that
these reports will open up more opportunities for meaningful conversations with young people about how our organisation works in a child-friendly way.

An interesting read; Beyond the system: from a childhood in care to an adulthood as a care provider by Tim Clare

"As someone who spent twenty years in care and has since dedicated my life to improving the system, this book is deeply personal. It combines my lived experiences as a child navigating the care system with insights from my career managing children’s homes. Through sharing my story and the lessons I’ve learned, I hope to inspire change and offer practical strategies for supporting vulnerable children. This book is both a reflection on the past and a guide to shaping a better future for those in care."

"Best pool party ever!"

Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed a sunny evening at the pool. Thanks so much to Rob for your cheffing skills, the burgers and hot dogs were delicious! It was so lovely to see so many kids having so much fun!😋

Thanks for all your lovely messages and to the team who worked hard to make this all come together.
"Just wanted to share we as a family had a great time Friday night at the pool party.
Was the best one so far according to the children, they have been to all the pool parties. The food, cafe shop (I enjoyed a latte) and everyone coming together, it was great fun. Thanks for all the hard work put in from everyone, to make it a success."

Our Story

Xcel 2000 is an independent fostering organisation, founded in 2000, covering Kent, London, Essex and Hertfordshire.

We are the main provider for fostering services for Kent & Medway, a preferred provider to the eastern region local authorities and part of the fostering framework for Hertfordshire, Croydon and Sutton. We are an active member of local and national forums which ensures that we have an influence in guaranteeing and maintaining best practice.

Our small, friendly team of foster carers, social workers and office staff work together to support young people in care. We aim to give them the best possible opportunities and experiences in safe, stable and supportive families. Since the organisation was formed in 2000, our families have fostered over 1000 children. Xcel 2000 have one of the highest number of looked after children living with their foster families long term or permanently - nearly 80%, providing stability and reassurance to both the young people and to our amazing, close knit team of foster parents.

Many factors contribute to our successes, including our excellent training and support, weekly foster parent meet ups, careful matching processes and a close knit team. We pride ourselves on being a small organisation that really cares, where every child really matters and every foster parent is valued and respected. The close working relationship that we have with the families who foster for us is paramount. We know each of our foster parents personally and are aware of how every young person is progressing.
