Spanning more than four decades as an educator, Master Teacher Bruce Becker has been bringing forward unique concepts in developing “The Flow”! Drawing from his more than thirty-year association with drumming guru Freddie Gruber, Bruce is carrying on the torch of a unique approach in getting the student to understand the natural principles of the physical body’s interaction with the drum set.

Through the years Top Drummers like David Garibaldi, Tris Imboden, Mark Schulman, Daniel Glass, Glen Sobel, Tim Carman and many more have sought his guidance.

Bruce Becker co-led the David Becker Tribune for 35 years recording 10 CDs. He has performed/recorded with Ron Carter, Mike Stern, Russell Ferrante, Barbara Dennerlein, John Abercrombie, producer Ken Caillat, Frank Gambale and many others.

Bruce has conducted master classes all over the world and most recently has been a regular contributor to Drumeo creating the very successful Drum Technique Made Easy course. He is the author of “Puzzles, Rhymes and Riddles” (Hudson) and the DVD “Concepts and Philosophies” (Hudson).

His latest book released through Hudson Music, “The Ultimate Guide to Syncopation”, is an in depth guide to the classic book “Syncopation“ by Ted Reed to achieve fluidity of movement, phrasing and independence.

As a Creative Hub Tutor, you will help students work on creative projects from start to finish. You will also help them develop their physical, social, emotional, and developmental skills.
Here are some of your duties:
Get to know your students. Each student is different, so it's important to build relationships with them and their support workers. This will help you provide the best possible support.
Work with others to create a plan for each student. You will work with support workers, teachers, pastoral managers, parents, and professional services to develop an individual learning plan (ILP) for each student. This plan will outline the student's goals and how you will help them achieve them.
Help students find the right qualifications and awards. You will identify the right qualifications and awards for each student to pursue. You will also help them prepare for and complete any required assessments.
Help students document their work. You will help students keep a record of their activities and experiences in an online blog. This will help them reflect on their progress and share their work with others.
Support students with physical needs. Students with specific physical requirements will be supported by an appropriately trained support worker. However, you should be aware of any physical needs or limitations and take them into account when planning projects and engaging with the student.
Support students with social needs. You will create a safe and supportive environment for students. You will also encourage them to engage with others, such as client schools, support workers, parents, carers, other students, and interested parties.
Support students with emotional needs. You will help students identify and manage their emotions. You will also be empathetic to their individual challenges and considerate of their history.
Support students with developmental needs. You will choose projects that are challenging but achievable for each student. You will also help them develop their skills and learn new things.

What is the growth zone?
The growth zone is where students learn and grow the most. It is challenging but achievable. When students are in the growth zone, they are motivated and engaged.
As a Creative Hub Tutor, you will help students identify projects that are in their growth zone. You will also provide them with the support they need to succeed.

Creative Hub tutors should be open to learning new things, even alongside their students. They also need to be okay with making mistakes and failing, as this is part of the learning process. Additionally, tutors should be comfortable using online learning resources, computers, and hand tools, and they should be able to follow instructions carefully.
In short, Creative Hub tutors need to be lifelong learners who are comfortable with uncertainty and failure. They should also be tech-savvy and self motivated, organised and resilient.

Our Story

NextStepStudios.co.uk

The phone rang around midnight, Keith gave me the bad news and I set out for my little studio. I arrived in the woodland hideaway hopeful but apprehensive, the closer I got the more the destruction was revealed. Broken glass, doors ripped from their hinges, imagine seeing what was left of your most prized possessions, mangled and scattered about the ground. I was devastated! That was 5 years ago. Determined to create an opportunity from my misfortune I set up a new studio, nestled it snuggly into the repetitive and gloomy Gillibrands industrial estate and together with the support of family and friends brought forth a burst of colour, excitement and creativity.

Music sets the mood to the movie of your life. From the moment you arrive at Next Step Studios we make you the composer. The studio is bright and clean, the smell of fresh coffee pricks your senses and the warm welcome sets you free to explore your own creativity.

We don’t teach, we enable learning! We don’t provide rehearsal space we facilitate discovery!
