This music video was also shot in a super widescreen cinematic resolution, which meant some creative editing was required before I shared it in portrait mode for Instagram!

Part of my quietness and procrastination when it comes to social media is because I love shooting widescreen content and making full use of the space it provides. This means that for best showcasing my work in portrait mode, I first manually realign each clip so you can still see all the action.

If your project would benefit from a portrait mode edit, I'm always happy to shoot with this in mind and deliver separate video edits suitable for all use cases.

I was THRILLED with the drone shots we got for my film on ! A cold, misty morning in Yorkshire’s iconic Victorian model village really elevated the themes of energy efficiency and home warmth.

I’m a registered drone pilot and always down to get out the big boy toys for any project that could benefit. In this situation, the sky-cam was superb for emphasising the scale and impact of the project, and the opportunity to capture such a beautiful town from this perspective was just the cherry on top!

In the middle of a wedding day, there’s always that time when the photographer and I will sneak the happy couple away to get a little breather and some one-on-one time. The whole day can be a whirlwind, but in this moment we like to let you breathe, take it all in, and simply bask in the love.

The setting might not be as candid as the rest of the day’s footage, but the romance is just as genuine, and it’s our job in that moment to let it shine above all else… even if the weather does want to get in the way!

I love making montages that exude the energy of the whole day, so I’m tremendously grateful to receive wonderful feedback like I got for the full length video I made for this amazing couple!

Possibly one of my favourite shoots to plan and prep, working with the legendary Kathryn Longbottom Music to bring a vision of witchy, woodland fairy tale energy to this beautiful song was a creative joy from start to finish.

Kathryn was looking for a video with an ethereal, dreamy energy. Something grounded and down to earth, but also otherworldly and uncanny. We had lots of elements in play to create this, from the music-box dancing playing off the twinkly piano, to the earthly setting full of greenery combined with some glowing, bold colour grading.

The project involved lots of creative brainstorming, full storyboards, a location recce, and lots of back and forth about outfits, and I had such a genuinely fun time throughout.

I love a project that gets the creative juices in full flow, and that’s so much easier when you’ve got a creative force as strong and powerful as Kathryn!

To tell the story of community organisation Friends of Bradford's Becks, I joined chair Barney Lerner MBE on a journey from the small streams on Bradford’s outskirts to the hidden waterways underneath the city centre.

The film explores the environmental concerns, water quality, and wildlife along the way - all a crucial part of the group’s work to give Bradford’s Becks the care and attention they need.

It’s such a wonderful organisation, and this was a fantastic and enriching opportunity for an important cause. I’m so grateful to Barney for his enthusiasm, knowledge, and investment in both their mission and our film.

The full 13 minute film is available on their YouTube channel and also features studio interviews with Bradford Council and the Environment Agency. Search “Friends of Bradford’s Becks” to see this and more of the amazing work they do.

Introducing the (gorgeous) face of the business... me!

I'm Billy White, and I have never been shy about my love for storytelling.

From drawing comic strips and writing stories as a child, I fuelled my creative juices devising fun tales. After saving up for my first digital camera at age 10, I taught myself the ins and outs of basic filmmaking, producing silent films and stop motion animations with my siblings and friends.

Fast forward to today, and I'm beyond thrilled to be at the front of my own filmmaking business, Films by Billy! With a vastly upgraded camera, a Masters in Film Production, and a wide-ranging portfolio from documentaries to weddings and music videos, I'm beyond excited to see what new adventures the future holds!

I look forward to continuing my story and sharing it with you along the way...

Introducing... my shiny logo!

The concept for my logo originated in the nostalgic imagery of old video cameras and projectors. With the film reels attached at the top simplified for a modern aesthetic, the logo emphasises the timelessness of storytelling as a medium.

I also like how it offers an abstract representation of hills, reflecting the grounded, natural themes prevalent throughout my work, and my hometown of Skipton, "the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales".

Last but not least, turn it on its side... and you've got a B! (for Billy)​​​​​​​
