Come and spend the day with us at another spectacular Chatsworth event 💐

Earlier this year for spare humans 40th birthday I bought him a years membership to Chatsworth. We made it our goal to visit as much as we could throughout the seasons and take advantage of all the events included in our membership.

We stumbled across the plant and garden fair with very little knowledge of what it was about or what happened there and we were so pleasantly suprised 🌱

It was filled with lots of specialist RHS Award winning nurseries from all over the UK. Their knowledge was superb and they were all selling the most beautiful healthy plants. Some flowers we’d never ever seen before or rare colours of flowers you never ever see in your local garden centre. I’m still thinking about some of the plants I never bought and now have massive fomo!!

Chatsworth gardens are our favourite part about visiting and it was so lovely to use it as inspiration and be able to buy what we could see out there.

And of course - it was dog friendly! Luna loves Chatsworth estate because of all the little hidden streams and good nature sniffs, so it was a grand day out for her too.

We will 110% be going back next year now we know what’s on offer!

In honour of June marking 2 years of the worst time of my life: watch cancer steal my mum away from me, I thought I would share some things grief has kindly gifted me in the form of trauma, ptsd and rage.

I told my therapist I would talk more so why not take that to a whole level of over sharing online.

1. M&S is my mum. My mum is M&S. It’s where we’d go every week ever since I was a little girl. I walk in the clothing hall and see a silly little M&S cardigan or silly little T-shirt and that’s it, I’m in tears. Thanks M&S.

2. When it was just me and mum home alone in the evenings as a teen or even in my early twenties, 9 times out of 10 you’d find us watching Tangled. Mum loved that bloody horse. Stupid horse makes me want to cry now.

3. There was me before death. Optimistic and always thinking of the excitement of the future. Then there was me after death. Terrified of what was round the corner. And fully convinced everyone is going to die some horrible way very soon. That’s fun to live with every time my husband sets off for work in the morning.

4. The intrusive thoughts telling me to walk up to mum and daughter duos in M&S and scream ‘do you know how lucky you are?!’ comes on thick and fast. Grief brings a lot of resentment and bitterness. And rage. Public rage.

5. You bet you’d find us sipping a cheeky G&T on a Thursday watching tangled because ‘it’s nearly the weekend’. That time is sacred and Thursday G&Ts are reserved for me and my mum only.

So yeah I hope this helps someone else grieving in that they are not insane. It’s all part of the course. And if someone tells me grief is like glitter or that it will get easier over time I will scream.

I’m just saying, you never feel sad when you’re sat watching a sunrise over the mountains with a dog? Coincidence? I think now.
