Tony Khan is still riding high after AEW All In: Texas—and for good reason. During an interview with Q101, the AEW President shared how the show received what he considers the highest praise from someone who’s been with him from the very beginning.
“It was our big success story, but also just the best wrestling show we could have put on.”
According to Khan, his longtime friend Todd—who was there with him back in the early Aragon Brawl Room days—was completely blown away by the show. Todd even told Tony it was the best-built wrestling event he’s ever seen.
“I got the highest praise from my friend Todd… the person who first coined the idea in my world of doing weekly shows week to week to week. He said he thought it was the best wrestling show he’s seen in terms of having a big event where all the stories built to something.”
And Todd wasn’t just comparing AEW to today’s wrestling. He went way back—to WrestleMania 3 in 1987. That kind of throwback praise hit home for Khan, especially since he wasn’t even watching wrestling yet at the time.
“This is talking about the competition too, but also going back frankly to 1987. I was four years old at the time… but he was watching, he’s about five years older than me… that was his big childhood event.”
Todd’s comparison carried serious weight for Khan, who knows how deep his friend’s wrestling knowledge goes.
“He said he thought it was the best payoff of all the stories since WrestleMania 3 in 1987. Incredible. I was like, wow… that’s the highest praise.”
In the end, Khan didn’t hold back in how proud he is of what AEW delivered.
“All In Texas, great show.”
It’s clear Tony Khan sees All In: Texas as a defining moment in AEW’s history—and getting it compared to WrestleMania 3 may be the most meaningful review of all.
