Oyinbo people smile for a living, and maintaining a friendly and positive attitude will make you more appealing to others. Someone asked me if learning hairdressing before moving abroad would be beneficial, and my answer was yes, but with limitations. If you're considering learning a skill before traveling abroad, aside from driving, I highly recommend learning basic computer skills. Having a foundation in IT will significantly improve your chances of securing a job. While hairdressing skills can be useful for styling your own and your family's hair, people living abroad are often too busy working to spend much time on hairstyling. Many opt for cornrows and have plenty wigs. Many others have their hair on low cut.👌👌👌

When planning to japa, one essential skill you should acquire is learning how to drive. I knew this but didn't prioritize it, and now I wish I had. Learning to drive in the UK is quite expensive, with lessons costing up to £40 per hour. If you take lessons for 2 hours in a day, that's £80! 😫
However, purchasing a car in the UK is more affordable. While some vehicles are pricey, you can find a fairly used car for £2,000 to £3,000 (Your 1, 2 or 3 months salary depending on how many hours you work), which will serve your needs. Owning a car offers numerous benefits, like securing a job more easily and managing your daily activities more efficiently. Local bus companies are often hiring drivers, and they pay around £15 per hour.
My workplace is only a 5-minute drive from my house, but it takes me 15 minutes by bus. If I had a car, I could leave at 8:55 AM and still make it to work by 9:00 AM. 😂
So, if you're considering a move abroad, make sure to prioritize learning how to drive – it can make a world of difference in your new life!

One thing I love about being a support worker is the flexibility it offers. You can choose to work evenings, days, nights, or weekends. It's not like a typical office job where you work Monday to Friday, 9 to 4 or 5 pm. If you arrive in the UK on a student visa, consider looking for care jobs, as they can be easily scheduled around your school timetable. And if you're lucky enough to find support work instead of care, your job could be even less stressful.
