💙 COMMUNITY NEWS – HILS SUPPORTS THE COMMUNITY 💙

As temperatures rise, Health & Independent Living Support (HILS) is helping thousands of older and vulnerable people across Hampshire stay safe, well and independent this summer. ☀️

Over the coming week, HILS will deliver nutritious Meals on Wheels to more than 2,900 people, with every delivery including a friendly wellbeing check to make sure clients are safe, comfortable and staying hydrated. 🍽️💧

Their drivers are also on hand to remind customers that they can ask for help making a drink, while staff visiting people at home are offering advice on keeping cool, drinking regularly and seeking support if they feel unwell.

🌡️ Family, friends and neighbours are encouraged to check in on older or vulnerable people during periods of hot weather. A quick call or visit could make all the difference. ❤️

HILS provides Meals on Wheels and other support services across Hampshire, helping people live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.

The River Hamble

I eat rocks and stones,
Trees, leaves and more.
I rush like the wind,
Everything else is a bore.

I am a whisperer,
I hum and I sing,
But everyone else thinks

Funding available for Hampshire community projects
If you run a local community group, charity, sports club or community space in Hampshire, now is the perfect time to bring your ideas to life.
The Hampshire County Councillors Grants Scheme is now open, offering grants of between £100 and £1,000 to support projects that benefit local people. Whether you're looking to improve a village hall, buy new equipment, create a community garden or organise activities that bring people together, this funding could help.
The first step is to get in touch with your local Hampshire County Councillor to talk through your project. Each councillor has a budget to support worthwhile local initiatives and can advise you before you apply.
If you've been waiting for the right opportunity to get your project off the ground, this could be it.
To find out more, check the eligibility criteria and apply online, visit: www.hants.gov.uk/community/grants/grants-list/county-councillor. The scheme is open until 28 February 2027, but it's worth contacting your local councillor sooner rather than later.

🌳🏆 GREEN FLAG SUCCESS! 🏆🌳

We’re celebrating some fantastic local green space news! 💚

Holly Hill Woodland Park and the Sensory Garden of Reflection have once again been recognised with the prestigious Green Flag Award. 🌿👏

The internationally respected award celebrates parks and green spaces that are welcoming, well maintained and provide high-quality places for people to enjoy.

This recognition is a wonderful achievement for Fareham Borough Council’s parks team and dedicated volunteers, whose hard work helps keep these much-loved spaces looking their best for residents and visitors. 🌼

🌱 The Holly Hill Rediscovered project is also continuing to improve the park’s lakes and ponds, creating better spaces for both wildlife and visitors.
