Sarah Graham is excited about her upcoming solo exhibition at The Mondrian Hotel in Shoreditch, London, later this month 'Pop Nostalgia' The show will be in the exclusive Curtain Club and if you would like to attend the private view on May 26 from 6pm-9pm, please email. [email protected]. "The show will feature work spanning much of my 21 year career, including four rare originals made during my time with publishers Washington Green, who have kindly made them available for the show. There are more recent originals, and four brand new neon originals created especially for the show, made with acrylics and spray paints. Also on display will be my full range of limited edition prints, all framed, of my photorealist paintings, featuring some of my best known work from recent years. The exhibition really does showcase the diversity of my subject matter and how my work has evolved over the years," says Sarah. At the show Sarah will also be exclusively launching her limited edition print of Kaisers Rock, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the creation of this painting for the Kaiser Chiefs singles collection Souvenir. "It was 2012 when lead singer Ricky Wilson asked me to do the cover and the album was released in June of that year. It remains one of my most well-known pieces and people are still captivated by it and the story behind it. The print has captured the colours of the original so beautifully. Printed on 330gsm Somerset Velvet Paper, with a silkscreen varnish, the image measures 53.5 x 80cm, and costs £450. To pre-order a print (P&P is £25) please email Kim Shaylor from Gone Rogue. A framed proof will be on display at the show, prints will be available in a few weeks.
"Here are three of the neon series which will be exhibited: 'Neon Lollies' 90x90cm, 'Neon Mini Rally 80x120cm, and 'Neon VW' 50x70cm. These have been so much fun to create, based on much smaller stencil pieces, I've literally scaled up freehand, and using a combination of spray paint, acrylics, and the really exciting, unpredictable process of splattering paint, these are the result. The neon paint really glows in real life, they've been tricky to photograph well, you need to see them in the flesh! They are very much Pop Art as it should be, bold, vibrant and fun."
