Colchester United rebrand concept

When I started looking at Essex clubs that I felt were ready for a rebrand, Colchester stood out as a club with plenty of history and character to work with. Depsite being a Southend United fan haha

I wanted to create something classic rather than following the usual modern badge trends. The eagle became the centrepiece, giving the identity a strong, traditional feel while nodding to the city’s Roman heritage. I paired it with a circular structure, serif lettering and a refined blue and gold colour palette to create a crest that feels as though it could have represented the club for decades.

I then built a wider visual identity around it, testing the badge across shirts, scarves, flags, stadium signage and matchday graphics. The aim was to create something that felt consistent and recognisable everywhere, from the terraces to social media.

I’m still not going to start singing “Up the U’s”, but I can admit that it looks the part.

A slightly different kind of new arrival at OG Studio this week… 👶🏻❤️

With our baby due any day now, I’m taking a little time away from posting and work to focus on becoming a dad and spending some time with my family.

A massive thank you to all of my current clients for being so understanding and supportive. Everything is taken care of while I’m away, and I genuinely appreciate everyone giving me the space to switch off for a little while.

I’ll be back very soon, and any new enquiries or messages will be picked up as soon as I return 😊

What are we trying to show?
Who are we trying to reach?
What does the audience need to understand?
What should this content actually do?

That is the bit that makes the difference.

Because anyone can turn up and film.

The real work is making sure the content has a purpose before anything gets captured.
