We try to find ways to bring these places alive and to take our readers with us. The game of golf means a lot to us. We love to meet people that love it too. And then we love telling the stories of what we found on our travels to our wonderful readers. We have covered Open Championships, Ryder Cups and The Masters. We have interviewed the biggest names in the game on many occasions and even shared a round or two with some of them. But golf is not really about all that. We're the ones making the world smaller by going out into it. By tasting the flavours of somewhere new. By seeking out a different perspective
By welcoming in the unexpected and unknown. By embracing sights and sounds of places far from home and cultures far from our own. Until all that was once foreign becomes familiar

Few places in golf carry the weight of this stretch of land.

Long Island, New York. Home of The National Golf Links of America, Shinnecock Hills, Friar’s Head to name but a few. Each course has its own rhythm, its own mythology, its own identity.

The National will always hold a special place in hearts. Link in the bio. It stands as one of the great acts of architectural imagination in American golf, a love letter to the old links of Britain and Ireland, reinterpreted on Long Island soil.

But next week, the eyes of the golfing world return to Shinnecock Hills for the 126th US Open. A founding club of the USGA, Shinnecock is a place of history, challenge and consequence. A course that never needs to shout because its importance is already understood.

Together, they explain why this corner of New York feels less like a golf destination and more like a chapter in the game’s origin story.
